So my question is, since we now know for sure that the iPad 3 will have a retina display, with double the pixels, I wanna know doesnt it make sense that they will improve the camera & more importantly make it able to record in full 1080p? Or higher if possible??? Regardly I'm getting the iPad 3 anyway but I just want to know

Yes it does. Hopefully we'll see a 5-8 MP camera on the back with 1080p recording. And maybe an improved front camera as well.

The rumours suggest it'll be 8 megapixels, which would probably mean it's the same as the iPhone 4S and does 1080. I think it's quite likely it'll get a bump to 1080 either way (which means I have my work cut out getting my apps to run smoothly at that res 😉)

Maybe it is just me, but I don't believe the iPad 3 will have a 8 megapixel rear camera. I'd say 5 megapixels... maximum. But I'd like to be proven wrong in a few weeks. 🙂

I do think that 1080p is a no-brainer. Heck, I even see them making it possible to record videos with a resolution of 2048 by 1536.

If the iPad 3 gets the iPhone 4's 5 megapixel camera, it will record 720p HD. If it gets an 8 megapixel camera it will record 1080p Full HD which makes sense because of the "retina" display.

A 3MP camera can record 1080p. The limiting factor of iphone 4 was the CPU, not the camera sensor.
