Why do I not have 4k Video settings from aptv 4k delivered this evening.
Is it accetable to book a 4k movie when aptv is detecting 1080o from Sony 4k non hdr t..v.
Sky q for example works with 2160P 4k wich tv detects and displays.

Could it help to book a 4k movie@weekend,
Too add I’ve since used sky q hdmi lead and t.v is still showing 1080P as is ap tv video settings.
I’ve since ordered a new high speed cable from amazon due to arrive Mon.
Slightly concerned apple 4k t.v isn’t offering any 4k resolution via video settings.

Might sound stupid but did you definitely buy the 4K model (5th Gen) and not the 4th Gen model? They look identical as far as i can tell.

That’s what I’m thinking.
Apple tv 4k advertised as 4k 2160p via e-bay.
I have the Aptv -siri remote-tvos 11.

Have I been conned-may have to return via e-bay to seller :(

The Apple TV 4th gen has the same remote, as you can see here : https://www.apple.com/uk/tv/compare/ they both look identical, I'm not entirely sure how to check because I don't own the 4th gen but if there are no 4K HDR settings then you can't have the 4K model.

Does it have a USB-C on the back?? If so it's the 4th gen not 4K.

If you got it off of ebay, you were probably conned. I would return it and just buy one from a known source.

Yes it does have usbc and a cable.

Until 15th Oct if seller doesn’t reply -to ebay return request.
Which is why I’ve called CC company who can apply a refund when I call in 3-4 days.
, Iv’e got the I want 4k Apple t.v. Video option bug!

Apple 4k t.v from currys delivered past few mins.
4K sdr auto resolution detected.
Couldn’t contain my excitement -watched a few 4k trailers-it is indeed stunning high quality 4K.
1 more delivery today-high speed hdmi cable from Amazon(only a tenner approx) -meanwhile I’ve borrowed the sky q minbox hdmi cable.
Interesting 4k ap tv is shipped with tvos11 -I had to update from 10 yesterday with previous aptvhd.
Thought 4kap tv sound was low-adjusted Sony4k non hdr tv to Cinema sound -amazing difference.
Lesson learned -sometimes it pays more to purchase brand new for a little more cost.

Only decision left is which movie to rent in 4k this evening.

Collateral Beauty -rented yesterday evening.
I thought it was 4k-though todays description shows hd.
Does that mean my sony tv is upscaling to 4k as it is set to 2160P-with new high speed hdmi cable-4:4:4

I just bought my Apple 4K TV yesterday. I have a new Sony UHD 4K TV also. I rented the Martian last night that was advertised as 4k but it didn't really look like it. I"m wondering if the rentals are actually 4K.

This may sound stupid...but not sure how to check what the movie is actually playing. Plus I had those annoying black banners above & below the picture. Why? I never see them on 4K display units at the store. I have UHD enhanced selected in the TV settings. Are there additional settings I need to establish in the Apple TV?

Try swiping down via siri remote whilst viewing a movie.
You might find 4k or dolby vision logo.
