I posted the discussion below on the MacBook subthread. The duplicate here is intended so that I could create another pool for the MacBook Pro model. Please cast your prediction for the MacBook Pro here and also MacBook model there.
While waiting for the Superbowl to begin, I decided to do some calculation on the days of new MacBook and MBP releases. Considering that Apple might hold a special event for the iPad 2 this month along with the delay on Sandy Bridge caused by the design flaw, we will probably witness the longest refresh gap for both products. After all, Apple won't risk taking the limelight away from the hype building up to the release of iPad 2 whenever it is. Here are some stats that I took with the help of Macrumors' buyer's guide:
The longest gap for MacBook release so far: 294 days (July 26, 2005 to May 16, 2006)
What was released on July 26, 2005: iBook G4 (the last consumer level laptop from Apple that using the name iBook and runs on PowerPC)
What was released on May 16, 2006: MacBook (initial design - squarish shape before being remodeled into puffy marshmallow style in October 2009)
The longest gap for MacBook Pro release so far: 309 days (June 8, 2009 to April 13, 2010)
What was released on June 8, 2009: MacBook Pro 15" (non-replaceable battery version) and a minor update for 17"
What was released on April 13, 2010: MacBook Pro 15" and 17" with Core i5/i7 options
