There are more hardware difference than Apple reports between the 8th gen and 10th gen models. See video linked below. The 10th gen gets better thermals with 2 fans and has new speakers with additional woofers so bass response should be much better. Skip to 10:49.

The base 13.3 has always had a single fan. Where as the others with 4TB ports have two.

Just as with the 2019 models, the higher end 13 inch has a CPU that's rated at 28 watts compared to 15W in the 2-port model. I'm not sure you can call that "better thermals" since the CPU draws almost twice the power.

The 28W models have two fans with double the heatsink surface area.

The 4x TB has always had twin fan design and better speaker system. This has been the case for the last 4 years.

They also use 28W CPU vs 15W CPU in the 2x TB units. Always have.

Depending on the workload (as shown on the video), for most use case, the double fan design will dissipate heat better (d'oh) and they will operate cooler and more silent too boot.

However, when you are stressing the CPU at 100% on both machine, the 4x TB model can be louder (since they have 2 fans) but also shown on the video, they sustain their power level better than the 2x TB model with single fan design

Ah my bad. Didn’t realize these differences always existed. I have an original (mid 2012) retina 15” MBP and haven’t been up on some of the minor hardware details. Ordered a 2020 13” mbp with 10th gen i7, 16gb, 1tb ssd.
