The 10th gen Intel chip has been a letdown on the Windows side as well. They're not that much faster than 8th or 9th gen.

Also are you sure you are not thinking of Geekbench? In terms of Geekbench, my i9 gets:
Single Core 1105
Multi Core 6580

Ice Lake processors have faster GPUs but only moderate CPU improvements. Comet Lake processors have bigger CPU gains but only UHD graphics.

9th gen chips > 10th gen > 8th gen intel processors at this moment.

Later this year intel will release new intel 10th chips that will be much faster than the 9th gen. For now 9th gen is great for gaming, video editing, photoshop etc

ya I was looking at geek bench, my 15 inch from 2016 was half the speed
