Particularly speaking to the 11.6-inch Air buyers: Are you happy with the changes?

I think I am. My only gripe is the fact that the i7 version can't be bought in stores right away.

    Other than that:

-The higher-end version of the 11.6-inch model doesn't require a $100 upgrade on RAM, meaning it's $100 cheaper really.
    -$50 price-drop
-all the other goodies that every Macbook Air purchaser is getting (backlit, SB, etc)

So who's upset, and who's happy? I'm a little upset there's no HD facetime camera... but I didn't need that in the first place.

I currently have the 11.6" version. I love the form factor. Now its refresh time and I may go 13". The main reason is battery life, display specs (I also want to run my Apple monitor with it and use a i7 15" Macbook Pro High Res).

Over all if you do not run it like a desktop as well and battery life (its ok at 4 hours) - go with the 11.6". If you have an Apple store near by, go play with both of them and see what you like. The i7 will add a tiny bit of performance, but not a deal breaker. But do get 4GB of RAM.

You would be good either way.

The only thing that bugs me is the battery life, a significant reduction based on the early review from Laptop mag (6:03 vs. 4:46 based on their test metric).

I was somewhat hoping the move to SB would eek an extra hour or so, but it seems the opposite has happened - and if that were the case, I'd sell my current 11" and get one, but as it stands I'll hold off till Ivy Bridge. To me for a machine like this that's the most important thing, of course others have different needs.

If I were waiting for these machines and upgrading from something else, I'd likely opt for the 13" due to its extra battery life and now having 4gb standard for the same price. As much as I love the 11" form factor having lived with it, I came from a 2k8 15" MBP and would have been exceedingly pleased with the size/weight reduction of either machine.

Something strikes me as odd about this review. Unless if he got his hands on these early by Apple. I doubt Apple cares though? I don't know.

Anyways... I bet he charged it up to full out of the box and then tested them. Not the best way to test batteries. Most new products require a full cycle before they really show their battery life.

LaptopMag got a unit in advance for testing.

I loved my 2010 11 inch, sold it 2 months ago for the new one coming out. I checked Best Buy to feel out the 13 inch once more, just to make sure that I should stick with 11 inch over 13 inch.

Still going with 11 inch. If you're a writer and do your writing in various locales and need something compact with a full size keyboard...it's the greatest. It's the perfect writing tool.

Its not 6:03hrs, thats the general average across all ultra portables, not for last years Air. The new Air is roughly 30 mins shorter battery wise according to that site.
