So for all the 11” and 12.9” Pro owners, especially with the Apple Smart Keyboard and Magic Keyboard owners, do you guys use screen protectors? Coming from the the 9.7” and 10.5” Pro’s, the keys were always covered, by the case. Is it possible that after long exposures of the screen resting against the keys, it can cause marks on the glass? I‘ve seen marks on screens before due to that, or am I being to paranoid?

Thanks.

I don’t.

I imagine Apple would have tested that sort of thing extensively so I wouldn’t worry about it.

I can't see that being an issue, but a screen protector is a good idea, my 11" fell forward whilst sitting on a glass surface, cracked instantly, they are very delicate.

I dont use a screen protector, even before I got the keyboard.

I have never used a screen protector on a iPhone or iPad and I have owned many, going back to the iPad 3 and iPhone 2. Back then Steve Jobs and Apple said don’t use screen protectors. Now they sell them 🤷‍♂️

I am very conscious of my screens and keep them very clean. I rarely use my finger on the iPad Pro, using the MK And Pencil 2. iPhones of course is only finger driven but it does not seem to be a print oil issue.

When I see someone that has a screen protector on a device I can tell, some are better some are worse but after time they look hidious.

I don't use a screen protector on my 12.9 with the MK, but then it doesn't leave home.

Had a Pro since the first 12.9, now on a 11” and I always had a screen protector. First glass ones from Zagg, but later on Paperlike 1 and now Paperlike 2.

It only takes one grain of quarts (sand) and your screen can be scratched horribly.

Certainly with the Smart Keyboard you fold backwards and put it on a table etc, fold it back and hey presto. Also the fabric of the Smart did cause wear on my Paperlike screenprotector. That doesn’t say much, as the Paperlike is a bit of plastic and the screen of the iPad is much smoother and probably harder.

With the Magic keyboard the keys seem to be the tiniest bit recessed. So wear from that is much less, I expect.
But I still use a screen protector because I like Paperlike 2 a lot. It really makes a difference at writing.

I’ve had the Magic Keyboard with my iPad Pro for a week now. I have not noticed any Scuffing or Marks or Even Scratches on the Display. Since the Display is Glass and the Keys are plastic, the Plastic Keys cannot scratch the Harder glass display. Plastic is a 3 on Mohs Scale of Hardness and Glass is a 6.

Hope this Helps.

I use an iCarez Matte screen protector. I've never had problems with keyboard marks on the screen - they're a type of material that wouldn't make marks unless foreign objects (sand) got in between the two.

Only once tried the Paperlike screen protector on my 11" iPP, didn't like it and removed it. Never had a screen protector on my 9.7" iPP, 10.5" iPP and also have been using my 11" iPP now without a screen protector for 1.5 years. All were in use with their respective Apple Smart Keyboards.

I use this screen protector on my 2020 11” iPad Pro, and I’ve had zero issues. I’ve seen MacBooks that do not use any keyboard cover or screen protector that have permanent keyboard marks on the screen because people abuse their tech. So I think using a protector of any kind versus not using a protector isn’t the issue, but rather the amount of abuse the product faces.
