I wanted to ask someone who upgraded from a 7 Plus to an 8 Plus. Exactly how laggy is it? Isn’t there any improvement at all?

No, it hasn't. It wasn't this bad with the most basic actions (like 3D touch).
Try digging in this forum, you’ll see, give it a .1 or .2 update and things will work as you wish :).

Could it be better? Yes of course, but it will improve.

I honestly don't remember 7 being as bad with such elementary, simple things, even given the total UI overhaul.

The issues in 11 are simply pathetic, I feel like I'm using a mid tier Android phone.
You have to remember that while it seems that there are very few features in OS11 and it seems like a small update, the file system has been changed, and that requires a huge amount of work, as said, it will improve and it will happen quick.

Would be a valid point, except the file system was changed in iOS 10, not IOS 11.

Shure , but this year it was pushed to all devices (Macs as well) I am sure it was a major update to apfs.

11 was /is a bumpy release, but far from worse, especially if the biggest complain is speed, I consider that annoying but far from the worst problem we had with iOS.

APFS being implemented on (some) Macs now is irrelevant to iOS 11’s poor performance and abundance of bugs. The speed isn’t my concern either. It’s the high rate of bugs, frequent crashes, freezing etc.

I agree. Usually older devices receive more changes. I see almost nothing new than what I received on iOS 10 with my 7+. Apple is falling off the deep end.

My iPad received a nice update though.

In terms of bugs, iOS11 is the worst release in memory. I’ve been upgrading on day one since iOS4 and I don’t remember ever running into so many problems. I’ve had to restart my phone once or twice a week with this release. Annoying!

I think there are many, many graphic itches. Screen rotation isn't always correct. Some transitions are only partially done, resulting in some weird overlays. On older devices transitions do not appear too smooth, I just sat it on a newly bought iPad mini, and I wasn't impressed.

I’d have to say iOS 11 is no different in performance from iOS 10. I have minor glitches but, nothing that would make me call it crap. I have poor battery performance (same as iOS 10 until the last couple versions). My air2 had the annoying rotation bug in iOS 10 that wasn’t fixed until 10.3.1. That hasn’t happened to me in iOS 11. I’m positive everything will get ironed out in later updates just like it was in past iOS releases

The “report” doesn’t actually exist. According to Snopes, a Harvard student did conduct a casual search of Google Trends, and her findings were exaggerated over time.

Most of my speed issue went away by removing old unsupported apps on the device.

Yes, the same has been said about 10, 9, 8,7,6, 5, 4,3,2,1,-1,-2,-3. It will be said about 12, 13, 14, 15 etc.

Since it is great for some and bad for others it might be the applications you are running and not the IOS.
