So today noticed that my 4 days old 11 pro max has dust particles under 2 lenses. Not in center, but in the corner.

Because i'm in the 14 day return period, my option is to return the phone and then order new one. (Currently mid-octorber until i got a new phone, if i'm lucky). We don't have an Apple Store in my country so that's not an option.

Or to service it from Apple authorized service provider. They will remove the screen, remove the lenses, clean the dust and re-seal it.

How often is that the service provider damages/scratches the phone or the screen's oleophobic coating? Is the "quality" of repair (For example the glue) same level than when it leaves the factory?

Thanks!

I have the same issue. If your screen looks satisfactory to you, I’d just wait. Dust like that probably won’t show up in photos and in 6-12 months you can service it if you still want to (you probably won’t care to).

Given the fact that i paid 1400€ for an smartphone. Dust under camera lens is not something i'm willing to accept...

Then return it and exchange ASAP. They often have units in the back for these situations despite not showing stock. Have you asked?

Yeah get one without dust but may have worse issues or a bad screen, you realise dust makes no difference right?

Read that, far more than a spec of dust and the pictures only degrade once the lens is smashed.

The main reason to do it now is that you will most certainly get a brand new phone instead of a 'white box' version.

There have been those, like myself, who have had great luck with refurbs, but others have not.

As stated, dust under the lease will 'bother' only you, not the camera itself. My Canon 10D has dust in the lens, but until it affects my pictures, I'm not paying the repair bill to clean it.

And yes, this would bug the heck out of me too. It would have already gone back. I wouldn't be waiting on MR to decide if I should.
