I've been hoping that Apple would sell the 11 pro line as a refurb. To this point, it's still just the X and the XS models on sale as refurbs. I figure they stopped selling the 11 pros when they released the 12 pro because they calculated that it would cannibalize 12 pro sales. I'm wondering if they are thinking the same thing about selling the 11 pro as refurbished. I'm hoping they eventually drop the XS line as a refurb and supplant it with the refurbished 11 pro line. An 11 would work but I really like the larger screen and enhanced camera on the 11 pro max.

I'm reticent to purchase the 12 because I wear hearing aids and the 12 pro line has Bluetooth connection problems that significantly hinder hearing aid use. To date, Apple hasn't resolved those issues completely. I also like buying refurbs to save a little money. 1-2 year older models aren't an issue with me, but I do tend to go flagship versions when I purchase.

Any thoughts?

Apple continues to offer iPhone 11 Pro to carriers and it represents a sizable chunk of sales.

Refurbished iPhones are a drop in the bucket for Apple. Usually, the stock is limited to a few thousand units. The availability of refurb iPhone 11 is likely related to the warranty claims for existing iPhone 11 owners. Apple needs to ensure they have enough refurb for future warranty claims before selling refurbs. This is why there is no set schedule as to when a refurb iPhone model shows up in the Apple Store.

iPhone 11 Pros will show up in the Apple refurb store eventually but, as mentioned in post above, various carriers still offer them new to customers. They are sometimes available with generous "discounts" or "trade allowances", at least if you're willing to switch carriers or add a line, etc.

There are also the third party iPhone resellers but those can be hit and miss.

Why not buy from another retailer like Best Buy, Target or Walmart? Or even from your carrier. They usually run stellar deals on the prior year's models and would probably get it a lot cheaper brand new than what Apple would offer it for as a refurb.

Thanks everyone. All good input. I should have covered this in my original post. I usually get the prepaid plans from my carrier. Formerly crickett, now verizon. Those great deals usually don't apply to the prepaid plans, plus verizon is currently out of stock on them and I usually just buy an unlocked phone anyway. That gives me the option to bounce to a prepaid plan of a different carrier with little hassle. I always just pay it off immediately. With places like BestBuy, you have to buy an phone with a plan. Not gonna do that.

With the retailers like I mentioned if you buy it outright, you can get it unlocked and not tied to a carrier, unless policy has changed.

Out of curiosity I just looked up the 11 Pro Max at Walmart in my area (Pittsburgh, PA). You can buy the phone outright unlocked, price depending on GB. 64 GB started at 739.99
