So on to replacing my iPad, I have an Air 3 that’s going to my 12 year old, soon to be 13, I’ve decided to go with the 11” Pro, but realistically thinking, am I better off waiting for the 2020 iPad Pro? It seems like it’s right around the corner, but the 11” Pro came out in October of 2018, and of course the MacRumors buyers guide says don’t buy, do we really forsee a new Pro in the spring? Or is it more like fall of 2020?

Personally I would wait, it could be as short as March.

It sounds like there will be a spec bump, possibly more RAM, and potentially the new iPhone pro cameras and stronger aluminum. I think at this point it’s worth holding out for those things.

I'm in the same boat and not sure what to do. I am about to take an illustrator class and would love use the sidecar feature for it

I’m trying to wait too. I’m stI’ll going back and forth between 11” and 12.9“. I currently have the 9.7 Pro and would love a bigger screen for media, especially with all the streaming I do.

Would some sort of refurbished iPad Pro be an option for you? I got an „Amazon Refurbished“ iPad Pro 11” some days ago: Battery had two charge cycles, Manufactured 2019-07-08, very tiny „scratch“ on one side (like 1/4 pinhead).

Personally, I don’t think a new Pro is going to come with huge, meaningful upgrades over today’s lineup.

I had decided to buy the 11” iPP after Xmas, and the ONLY reason I haven’t bought one yet is because I would like to have the tele lens on the iPhone 11 Pro. It would be useful to have at conferences and workshops.

CPU-wise, the A12X is more than adequate today, and tomorrow. I won’t miss not having an A13X. RAM? I’m getting the 1TB model, and that already comes with 6 GB. I doubt a new iPP comes with more than 6 GB.

So....I’m basically just waiting for rumours to start surfacing regarding the camera. If it’s only rumoured to get the iPhone 11’s dual lens camera, I’d rather buy something today, on sale. If it gets the triple lens from the iPhone 11 Pro, I may wait.

It’s weird for any updated Apple product to not have information leaks prior to release, so I’m starting to doubt a March-April 2020 update. 🤷🏻‍♂️

If I were you, unless I absolutely need an iPad right NOW, I would choose to hold off for a couple of months, given the refresh cycle is right around the corner.

With that being said, iPad Pro right now is fairly capable. Just be careful with the bending issue. It is real, and issue may pop up even if you don’t see any visible bent. Those internal cables are as fragile as bubble, I’d argue.

I agree with waiting. The bending alone is reason enough on a device this expensive. The rest is just a bonus.

I wanted to get an iPad really bad but if we take a look at the timelines for most iPads, we are bound to see a new iPad as early as Feb or March.

I would wait as the pro has yet to be updated since 2018.

Apple could possibly release a new iPad Pro in March.

I think the odds are pretty good that will happen.

given how close we are and the deals aren’t that huge, it is worth waiting and seeing what happens. You can always pick up close outs of the 2018 when the new one is announced.

I wouldn’t want the new 11 pro cameras on my
iPad and that’s with me owning a 11 pro

You are buying iPad Pro for the camera? 😁😁😁

Sure, but this trend needs to go away. People taking pics with iPads is just ridiculous :)
Of course there is utility for it but every sightseeing or tourist attraction I get reminded how crazy it looks not to mention how annoying it is when people block the view with these huge devices :)

To be fair it has a large viewfinder so for some people it’s beneficial. To be subjective

Yes I agree but some people need that bigger screen to take a good picture. Not everybody has 20/20 vision.

It was popular with the TV commercial guys that came to scope out my house. I suspect it partially was for that reason. Easier to visualize the room on an iPad screen as opposed to a phone screen or tiny camera screen.

Pros using the camera on an iPad, despite arm-chair quarterbacks saying it's stupid. Go figure.

I’m in a similar boat. Some of the prices for the iPad Pro 11” on Apple’s refurbished site are pretty good.
I think waiting until March is the wiser move (unless you need it asap).

If it turns out to be much higher in price, you can pick up an older 11” at a highly reduced price. It’ll still be powerful enough for quite a while.

Some people - I agree. Unfortunately, it seems more and more people. If Apple keeps the trend of making their devices bigger then we might see someone with a 25" iPad taking a picture next time :D :D :D

Apple refurbished prices in Canada aren't good IMO, and most of the retailers do not have decent sales.

I will wait. The extra 2 GB alone is almost worth the price difference. Yes, I think it's highly likely the base model iPad Pros will be 6 GB in 2020.
