My iPhone 8 is starting to drain it's battery faster and faster so I want to upgrade to either 11 or 11 Pro.

The thing I care most about is battery life. I mostly browse in safari/reddit/twitter/whatsapp/news apps and listen to podcasts (pocket casts!), sometimes while using bluetooth in-ear headphones. I watch some Youtube every now and then, but not really long sessions. I also pretty much never watch TV/Movies (netflix, etc) on my phone and I hardly ever game.

I watched some battery life comparison videos and saw conflicting results. On some, the 11 lasted longer than the 11 Pro while browsing and also while playing youtube. But on others, the 11 Pro beats the 11.

I don't want to go bigger than the iPhone 11, and I would actually prefer the slightly smaller 11 Pro. And it's OLED screen is also nice, but having a better battery life is way more important to me. I want it to last a full day with some podcast listening and browsing and a few short videos.

I know this has probably been asked multiple times, but I could not find such definitive answers in terms of battery life.

Which one should I get?

I understand, but that’s essentially what you already got from YouTube, and most people here are normal and only have one phone so you won’t get valid comparisons using consistent use cases.

I believe I read that they were similar, but I think the 11 is slightly better if I'm remembering correctly.

I have the 11 and have been very pleased with the battery life (previously had the X).

Looking at the battery settings, my average screen on is 10h 50m and average screen off is 3h 1m in the past 10 days.

Hope that helps.

None of us here can really give you an exact answer since it is highly unlikely that we will be doing a repetitive task for hours on end to compare battery life of these 2 models however I found 2 sources that may help. First is from Anandtech and second is from Toms Guide, GSM Arena also shows that the 11 tested slightly more battery life than the 11 Pro as well.

All of the above plus the usage is a very subjective thing. There’s no definitive answer to questions like these.

I think the 11 and 11 Pro are generally pretty close in battery life, with one or the other coming out slightly ahead depending on what you are actually doing with it (which explains the variation you see in battery test results). Compared to the 8 you can't go wrong with either if battery life is your priority (I upgraded from an 8 to an 11 last fall and continue to be blown away by the amazing battery life on my 11 - I don't think I have finished a day yet with less than 50%). I think you can let size preference (and budget) be the primary deciding factor here.

Get what you going to prefer, both devices have great battery life. You simply cannot go wrong in the 11 Series of iPhones, you just need to pick what you feel you’d be most comfortable with.

i find lcd better to read than oled, while oled is better for video consumption since its contract is much better. plus the 11 have a slight bigger screen so its easier on the eye. for your consumption i would recommend the 11, its also 300 bucks cheaper.

Agreed. I've been blown away by the battery life of the 11 Pro and I upgraded from an XS! I definitely didn't see this upgrading to X or XS.

That wasn't the case for me. With my upgrades to the X and XS I did not see such a sizable jump in battery life. The X to XS wasn't even noticeable.
the x to xs can hardly be considered a upgrade, reviews had to put the two phones under a microscope to even tell the camera difference.

You use different criteria than me to consider what is an upgrade. A new phone that came out a year later with a faster processor is an upgrade to me.

Every new phone is the new, people will go wow on the battery

Not at all, my XS Max and 11 Pro Max are like night and day on battery life.

While my XS Max could give me a day and be nearing dead when I go to bed, the 11 Pro Max sits at around 50-55% when I am going to bed, I have even had it at 60%, despite a whole lot of WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Outlook and Apple Music usage.

I have to disagree :) 11 Pro battery life is better than I had on XS, but the difference is far from being huge (at least from my experience). I would say ~15-20% better.

Disagreeing is fine! I've driven for over an hour using Google Maps with no power source and my battery has been over 85% when I arrive. My older phones could never do that. It's not hard to find many people saying how significantly better the batteries in the 11 are.
