Yeah, no one bought them.

?

This is humor I assume.

Regardless of units sold its off topic. I was just pointing out why there was a justifiable price difference.

I'd pay for tapatalk again if they added an ignore feature!!! Argh

If they could some how manage to do this even though they never would, they would have a complete ecosystem. Imagine paying for a shared data plan of like 100GB/month, that could be used by your laptop, iMac, phone, whatever deviced tied to your Apple ID. That would be sweet.

One word: tethering. Personally, I'd kind of like it if iPhone tethering was free. People would have more of an incentive to buy an iPhone.

It saddens me to have to post this again, but people just don't seem to get it.

Liz: What's vertical integration?
Jack: Imagine that your favourite corn chip manufacturer also owned the number one diarrhea medication.
Liz:That'd be great cuz then they could put a little sample of the medication in each bag.
Jack:Keep thinking.
Liz: Except then they might be tempted to make the corn chips GIVE you...
Jack: Vertical integration.
Liz: Wow, that should not be allowed to happen.

Beyond the fact that it's illegal in the US for a wireless carrier to make devices, it's really just a terrible, terrible idea.

BGR is the source for the Fox story, so take it with a huge pile of salt.

Apple doesn't have the $$$ to build their own network let alone buy the spectrum.
At best they would become a reseller (MVNO) using existing AT&T and/or Verizon towers.
There's no way they could do that and remain profitable with limited device options and the cost of the devices themselves.

And even if they did find a way to buy the spectrum or buy out an existing carrier the selling prices would triple once the potential sellers knew it was apple buying...

More than likely they will come out with a product like Google Voice which is based off data. You can just lease the data part rather than minutes from the carriers.

Well - when apple decided to come into play with their iPhone, the world was dubious because apple is not a handset maker. They have ZERO experience with phones. Look at apple today.

The telecom industry is a huge cash cow.
