Received the new MacBook Pro today and one of the first things that I noticed is that it's running a new Darwin kernel with version 10.7.1, while still on Snow Leopard. It also has the 64 bit kernel and secure virtual memory enabled by default.
System Version: Mac OS X 10.6.6 (10J3210)
Kernel Version: Darwin 10.7.1
Boot Volume: Macintosh HD
Boot Mode: Normal
Secure Virtual Memory: Enabled
64-bit Kernel and Extensions: Yes
For comparison, my iMac (last update) is running Darwin 10.6.0 with the 32bit kernel and no secure virtual memory.
Does anyone know which Darwin version Lion uses? It looks like they are using the same kernel. To my knowledge this is also the first consumer product from Apple to ship with the 64bit kernel enabled by default.
Sorry if this was discussed before, I couldn't find much about it.
