iPad 2 plus accessories to be sold at all Best Buy stores and select Best Buy Mobile standalone locations nationwide

MINNEAPOLIS – March 10, 2011 – Best Buy Co. Inc., the nation's largest consumer electronics retailer, announced today that iPad 2 will be available at all Best Buy stores and select Best Buy Mobile standalone locations beginning at 5 p.m. local time on March 11.

Best Buy customers will be given tickets to purchase the iPad 2 on a first come, first serve basis beginning at 4:30 p.m. local time on March 11. Best Buy will also offer customers the opportunity to reserve their iPad 2 for in-store pick-up beginning on March 12, with a fully refundable $100 deposit.

I'd much rather go to Best Buy because the nearest Apple Store is 45 mins away from me. But I wonder if Best Buy will have a limit? I need to pick up two.

I was at my Best Buy an hour before they went on sale last year and was like 10th in line.
 
I wonder if you're able to get more than a WIFI version at all these 'other' non Apple stores? Can I go to a Bestbuy, Walmart, Target, etc and have a choice of a WIFI + 3G for either Verizon -or- AT&T?

Yes, well I know for Best Buy at least you will have all 18 options.
 
just called the local bestbuy store, they haven't heard anything about handing out any tickets. only thing they confirmed was they'll starting selling them at 5pm tomorrow.
 
Damn people where do you live?! This is my Best Buy location situation...

3 Best Buys within 7 miles or less. There is also an Apple Store near the "A" Best Buy on the map.
 
Yep my local Best Buy is confirming, however they couldnt tell me yet if they would allow 2 per customer. Was hoping to get 2 for the wife and I, but Im flying solo tomorrow. He said they were going to decide when they see how many they are getting. FYI

Only 5-10 people in line at best buy last year. I'm going there. :D

You can wander around the store and buy other stuff or go do something else in the meantime. Also gives people a chance to go somewhere else if they don't get a ticket. People get irate if they wait in line then get to the register to find out they are out of the model they want.
 
Good. If I don't get it on 11th, then I am paying 100 dollars deposit and pick it up on 12th. Noooo problemo. Get them as many as you can, best buy.

It's an indicator of how many they have in stock. I remember they did this for the XBOX 360 launch back in 05 when I camped out. They had tickets to match the systems and once the tickets were gone they were out. The ticket guarantees your item.

I can believe it. Things got ugly for a minute at the location I was at, but there was an off duty cop waiting in line as well and he deaded the madness. That was the 1st and last time I camped out for anything. Good times though :D
 
Ehh....I can't deal....going to order online and save myself the aggravation of having to deal with people.

No more tickets = no more ipads. Basically, you do not have to stand in line after you get your ticket. And less disappointment for people who stand in line and get nothing when they get to the sales rep. Been at 2 Black Fridays at Best Buy and ticket system works great.
 
When can I give them my $100? Do I have to wait until all the tickets are gone or can I just show up early tomorrow and then get it in Saturday instead?
