There's a number of threads on this forum where people complain about their 2011 models and some pointing out their "flaws" but not that many praising it. I thought, with so many mac users visiting this forum it'd be interesting to see (via Poll) what people's ACTUAL overall experience is/was like with the 2011 models.
I, personally, am a happy owner of the 2011 13" i5 model which works like a charm. What about you?

EDIT: The reason I grouped 15'' and 17'' together is because they basically have the same internals (apart from the display and some ports of course)

Think I have the wrong screen for me, bought it on eBay and stuck with it, but otherwise great performance.

People don't usually go online and praise their machines, but they do when there are problems. You will always see more complaints than praise although there is always less people unhappy than there are people happy. (In my experience)

Agreed 110%. I understand that people generally visit this forum to get help and/or resolve an issue and that there is no point of creating a thread that says "Hey, my MBP works just fine..." That's exactly why I thought a poll on this is a good idea; to provide a quick way to see what people's experience with these machines is like without counter arguing every MBP "flaw" claim there is.

i noticed the tendency to overheat (quicker than 2006 macbook/2009 mbp owned) but it cools down as quick as it overheats; man this mac is so silly fast that it's a fair trade off.
hopefully, of course, apple will improve the whole cooling system.

I haven't had any of the the hardware problems other people have been talking about (base 15"). I have had lots of problems with video playback in iTunes and Quicktime X, but that is almost definitely a software problem (since QT 7 and MPlayer both work perfectly) so I'm hoping that will be resolved with a software update eventually.

I haven't had any issues with my i5 13 inch. I've had it about a week now and I still love it.

I have a maxed out 2011 15" and it's the best computer I've ever used. I also have an old 2006 (rev 3) 15" and surprisingly it holds it's own for graphics. If you're just browsing the Internet/writing papers you should look into the lower end MacBooks if money is an issue. Even those completely destroy my old mbp.

Well, this looks decisive. An overwhelming majority of voters [88% or 52/59 not counting the last two options] had little or no problems at all with their machines. 10% had a number of issues with their machines and only 2% had a totally nightmarish experience.

I acknowledge that the sample size is quite small and that the stats may change over time but this does show that people are enjoying and having a good experience with these new machines.

Keep rocking, my fellow Macrumorers (yes I've just invented that word :p)

Bought a 2011 17 Inch base model new/sealed for $2,025.00 from a seller off eBay late March, got it April 1st. Other than the 3rd-party RAM I bought had a defective stick (which is not MacBook related), I love it and have had ZERO issues with it. Upgraded from an HP Envy 17 and I'm glad I spend the $700 to upgrade. Not to mention, the $600+ discount from buying on eBay rather than Apple! :)

Upgraded last week to the base model 13" (installed 8GB I got off NewEgg). Besides the fan kicking up at random times (when idle being the weirdest, since my C2D never did this), it has been a great upgrade (from 2.53Ghz/4GB 13" MBP).

Update: On my previous post.

Up until today I had zero problems with my 13 inch i5 model. Today as I was typing, the graphics went all funky on me and the screen froze up. I rebooted and everything looked normal again.

However, I brought it back and exchanged it for a 15 inch model since it was only a week old. I didn't want to take the chance that something might be wrong with my new computer, and I was already considering an upgrade to the 15 inch model, strictly for the better graphics card. I miss the size of the 13, but the way I love to play games, this 15 inch is probably a better choice for me.

Dead MB

Had a 15" MBP fully loaded, dead mobo in one week, returned for refund, very wary of Mac now, even though I have a 13" UMBA for use at home. Still like Win7/PC at work.

Firefox 4 slows the HELL out of my 2011 15''.

Tried everything. No avail.

FF4 still has a horrible memory leak. If I keep it open for over a day it brings my machine to a crawl too. A quick quit and relaunch solves the problem until the next day. ;)

After uninstalling/re installing / clearing cache/ etc, I can't even watch a youtube video even just 5 seconds after launching.

FF 3.6 and Safari work fine, though

In other words, there is something wrong with FF4, not your MBP. As suggested by the poster who mentioned the memory leak.

Where is the: "No problems at all, running great [15/17"]"?
EDIT: Oh, maybe i need to go back to school and learn to read ...
