Disable All My Files in Finder?

I want this -> If I click on Finder in Lion, it should show anything (I mean *********g anything) other than All My Files.

What if I am secretly building a case against my cheating wife and do not want those documents to show up when some one clicks on Finder?

Or what if I have downloaded a nice porn in some remotely deep folder in filesystem, and do not want my Wife/Kids/Parents/Uncles/Their friends to know?

Or show the next user some sensitive balance sheet & P&L account document which I recently created?

Well, I am still a newb when it comes to OSX but I like a little bit of privacy.

This seems like another useless feature Jobs is using to spy on his illegetimate kid. I need rest now.

Can anything be done?

Turn it off in Finder Preferences.

But remember: not only can someone turn it back on (or press cmd-shift-f), they can also launch a search for 'interesting' things. So I suggest you keep your porn in an encrypted disk image.
 
If you are worried about people finding stuff then you can block certain folders from being indexed and showing up in Spotlight. Go to Preferences>Spotlight then click o the Privacy tab.

It's not infallible but it stops casual searchers finding stuff. Or more likely stops embarrassing things popping up when YOU are searching.

While that does indeed stop stuff from showing up in searches, it's also much like putting a sign next to your files saying 'HERE BE PORNOS'. One can go into that preference and double-click the folders and voila, there you are.
 
Store "sensitive" data on an external disk, such as an 8GB USB drive or something. If you have more porn than 8GB then... well... that's a lot of porn!
 
create an encrypted disk image using Disk Utility for more "private" files, Spotlight wont index the disk image when its not mounted.
 
I'm not at my computer now, but I know that in one of the settings (either command + , or command + j) there is a setting for "Display x folder when a new Finder window opens". I have that set to my home folder. I then think (again, can't double check) that you can prevent All My Files from showing up in the sidebar using one of those two setting windows.

And where are the finder preferences my noob?

All we are having is just a bunch of workarounds. We don't have any way to set a particular folder/drive of our choice when we click finder?

No one finds this feature unnecessary?
 
I like All My Files conceptually, but I'm a web developer, so AMF just looks like a mess. I wish there was a special folder type for web assets, a necessary hierarchy or something.

YES.

Open Finder Window
Press (Command + ,)
Under "new finder window shows:" change from "all my files" to any other folder

DONE

I realize this contributes nothing. However, I don't care.

This was driving me CRAZY. I hated this feature, from the bottom of my cold little heart.

All the advice here was the the point and useful. I registered to this forum just to post this response.

They are not work arounds. You CAN set to where finder shows by default in the finder menu preferences.

While I do find it annoying, I don't constantly complain about it either. I find out how to change it back and then do it.

Agreed! WTF kind of feature is this. It is almost as bad as the Windows "document" folder that is some retarded search algorithm.

The "show all my stupid files" feature is almost as dumb as Faces in iPhoto - yet some how Faces could be more useful - if one could easily turn it off. O maybe they are forcing people to use Aperature or LightRoom, yet Apple abandoned their old core market long ago.

Finally someone agrees.
We'll I have moved past this annoyance to an even bigger annoyance called Windows 8 :p

Maybe someday I will revert back to OSX Yosemite or beyond.
