Lion, more heat and fan noise? (2011 MBP)

Hi guys.

Earlier today I upgraded to Lion, and everything has been working great, but there's just one thing that concerns me; the temperature has been increased, and the fan goes on all the time.

Does anybody have the same issue with the 2011 Macbook Pro's?

(I'm currently on the 13" i5 model)
 
I am running a 2008 white macbook 2.4GHz C2D and Lion makes its fan run at a high speed (4000+rpm) all the time. This never happened in Snow Leopard.
 
What process is running on your laptop, generating the heat?

Go into the Activity Monitor application, set it to show All Processes, then sort % CPU so the arrow is pointing down.

Whenever your fan runs, look for the the top processes there.

My 2010 Air idles a lot cooler with Lion than it did with Snow Leopard. However, there's been more than one time (after install) where it looked like Spotlight was doing more reindexing. That caused the processor to go up, which turned the fan on.

I have the same problem. Easily get to 70F with only a couple of safari windows open.
 
My temps are high as well on my imac. All I have to do is browse the web and I can watch the GPU temp shoot up. CPU runs hotter than it should as well.

I looked in activity monitor and 'mdworker', Safari, and Safari Web Content all are switching between 5 and 40. I only have three tabs open too!
 
Mac OS redoes the index for Spotlight after a Lion install I noticed. That's the mdworker process if I'm not mistaking. It takes a LOT of CPU and also puts an incredible load on the HDD which is why things can seem really slow. Usually takes a couple of hours, of course depending on how much stuff you have on your drives.
 
After upgrading to Lion OSX, on my Mac 15" 2011 (bought couple months ago) indexing is done, only photoshop and few other apps are running and the fan noise is LOUD. That is my current stats http://cl.ly/8dwU .

On Snow Leopard (which I already miss) I could barley hear the fan sound! its really annoying cuz its a pain to downgrade to snow leopard again. Any one found a solution to this issue?
 
I have a Mid-2010 Macbook Pro and it definitely runs a lot hotter than Snow Leopard did. There's also nothing running besides the browser. I'm hoping with a SU this issue is fixed.

For comparison:

Snow Leopard in iStat:

CPU: 50 Celsius
Fan Speed: 2000 RPM

Lion

CPU: Ranges from 62-70
Fan Speed: 3200-4000
 
It did this on my Macbook Air 2010 too, and then after an hour or so its sorted out. Run your computers a bit and see if it does the same.
 
My MBP 13" has been done indexing for hours. My CPU is idle to 5% and my temp is up to 190 with fans at 4000RPM. I am pretty sure we have a problem here.

Edit: On my MacBook Air 11" with Lion on it temps and fans are normal.

Opposite with me.
 
I'm on an early '08 13" white macbook and after installing the fan did go crazy while spotlight was indexing. It only took about 10mn (I've upgraded to a SSD) and now the fan noise is over. Back to normal :)
