First time iPad user, should I wait for the new ones to come out in March?

Wait out March/April if you don’t require the tool right away.

Thanks everyone, if they were to come out this year it would be April/March correct?

My question is assuming the 2021 IPP (12.9) model has the Mini LED display, will that be such a significant improvement to justify the price difference over a discounted 2020 model?

The good thing with waiting for the new release is one can then compare the specifications and buy whichever is the best value for their needs.

My job actually requires use of a tablet on the go, and relies heavily on editing spreadsheets/answering emails as well.

I feel like the next iPad+magic keyboard is calling my name!

The average release for that model is 530 days. We are sitting on 289 days since last. (This sites buyers guide) Could be another 240 days for the average.

Mac mini went 4 years one time. I’m in the camp ... need something buy something. Keep what you bought at least a year then trade up.

Very much this above, if you go on past upgrade cycles then we are only mid cycle, the problem with that thinking is it doesn’t take into account that the update in March 2020 was pretty minor so I’d say the chances of a new model being released in March 2021 is higher then not, but 60/40 maybe...

I’m in the same boat, I‘d like to buy a 12.9“ so I can give my 11” to my wife and retire her old 10.9” as it’s beginning to show its age... and I’d like to do all that before March 😂 but I might just have to be patient, especially if the new model boasts a new design and mini LED screen, I’d definitely be annoyed if I had just bought the current model in January and a new model arrived on the scene in March...

Replaced wife’s 10.9 with Gen 4 Air. She loves it.

Yes, my thoughts are that in March there should be a new one out. Particularly since it would be the perfect time to release a new iPad with more than minor updates.

There's no guarantee that there will be any new ipads coming out in 2021. Everyone is just assuming base on rumors on the internet. If you need one right away, I suggest getting a used one in good condition. I scored a mint 2020 ipad pro 256G cellular for $800 by looking around on swappa.

It was pure luck that I was in the right place at the right time. I was also able to get applecare as well since it was within the 60 days after purchased. I plan on trading it in if the new comes out. If not I'm set for a while.

Any other reputable sites you’d reco instead of swaps?

You can try ebay, I wouldn't trust craigslist or facebook market, too many scammer or thieves there. I was checking out swappa and found a 512G cellular for $955 that made me regret getting the 11, lol. I've used swappa 2 times and no had no issues either time.
