I hope there will be a wheels option.Simple solution. Three options based on size. Mini, Standard, and Max. Then spec out in the build of your iPad the way we do desktop and MacBooks. You spec your order to your liking. problem solved and we have only 3 official iPads. You choose, air versus pro, LED/OLED/Mini LED, 8GB-2TB.... you build it. We will call is iBuild-a-Pad. Then everyone can be happy![]()
It’s actually surprising that there are more iPad models than iPhone models, given that iPhones are the significantly larger market. And iPhones.
It’s 128 GB now, but half of it is taken up by LLMs, and updates take several days to download. In 2027 is the base storage still 64GB?
It wasn’t too bizarre for the Pro.And only the larger model? Way too bizarre even for Apple.
However, Young added that there may be a new iPad model with a 12.9-inch mini-LED display introduced in the fourth quarter of 2024. Speculatively, the device could be a high-end iPad Air, a low-end iPad Pro, or something else entirely. Next-generation iPad Air and iPad Pro models are expected to be announced at Apple's "Let loose" event on May 7.

Yes, but we have been told new compression techniques in the latest Apple Silicon make it behave like 2 terra bytes 🤨In 2027 is the base storage still 64GB?
I’m going to get flak for this but: there are way too many iPads.
Minis… there are 6 variety of mini… 2 base, 2 air and 2 Pro.Not including the entry level and mini
not for me. its only face id what makes an IPP interesting...
Either way, I'm not surprised; I kind of figured that nicer screen and 120hz refresh rate were one of the biggest selling points of the iPad Pro at this point, at least compared to the Air.
If the Pro is 120Hz + OLED... that's enough "different". At least they can give the Air (next tier) better backlight, but keep the LCD + 60Hz. Than regular iPad 11th Gen LCD/60Hz and edge backlit. This rumor never made sense. They need to differentiate the Air from the Pro.
In fact, the thing is fully modular and scalable! And ‘T Cooks! 😉I come from 2027… there are now 34 iPads in the lineup..
Consider yourself lucky 😂
The standard iPad is way more expensive than it should be for the low end iPad. Thats why it makes no sense to buy it if you can stretch to the Air... as the value proposition is so much higher. The bottom part of the line especially has this problem because Apple feels it needs low priced iPads. Ideally, the iPad and iPad mini would be identical except for size. More confusing than the iPads are the multiple pencils. All the same, I’d like to see a hybrid MacPad since both Macs and iPads use the same chips.
You can see the feature disparity in this comparison of current iPad Air 5 vs IPad Mini 6 vs iPad 10 model. The standard iPad is way more expensive than it should be for the low end iPad. Basically if they had iPad Air 2 and put A14 or A15 in it it would be perfect as basic iPad... a laminated screen really should be in the lowest end iPad in 2024... that screen it has is just not fit for purpose for a modern iPad. Everything else about it is fine though.
The Magic Keyboard folio is priced way way too high for an entry level iPad too... once you add that, and an Apple Pencil etc... its not really in entry level iPad territory all.You can see the feature disparity in this comparison of current iPad Air 5 vs IPad Mini 6 vs iPad 10 model.

I just don't see the older technology iPad 10th gen worth saving $100 compared to the Air using the above link. The Mini just needs a faster SoC and display quality improved. Both are great values as alternatives to the better iPad Pro models.
The lack of function key/media controls is why I bought the Logitech case instead. It’s a bizarre omission really. The Magic Keyboard folio is priced way way too high for an entry level iPad too... once you add that, and an Apple Pencil etc... its not really in entry level iPad territory all.
I think the only good thing about iPad 10th gen is the camera orientation in landscape... and maybe that the Magic Keyboard folia has function key row (which is nice but not essential, and shockingly and strangely absent on the Magic Keyboard for iPad Air and Pro).
Agree regarding the iPad mini... its an awesome device... I think an upgraded A series SoC, improved screen and possibly the previous minis screen aspect ratio... and it would be (even more) awesome.
