I’m getting the 2021 12.9 iPad. I’ve been advised by an Apple tech guy not to put a glass screen protector on it as this can inhibit the touch response.

I’ve always put protectors on, very nervous about not putting one on this very expensive iPad, especially as I want to use the Apple Pencil with it. The tech guy assures me that the pencil won’t scratch the screen.

what do you think?

I’ve had 2 generations of 12.9 IPP with Apple Pencils and used them without screen protectors without any issues or scratching. I prefer going without and keep a Shaggymax microfiber cloth on the display to keep it clean when used with MGK or smart folio:

One of my friends sent me a ESR 2-pack 9H clear tempered glass screen protector for my new 12.9 IPP M1. Can vouch that’s there’s no impact to touch or pencil response. HDR videos look great with no color shifts, just the glass protector is so reflective but I may keep it on for a bit.

ESR (2-Pack) Screen Protector Comaptible with iPad Pro 12.9 [2021 & 2020 & 2018] [Face ID Compatible] [Free Installation Frame] 9H-Hard HD Clear Tempered-Glass Screen Protector for the iPad Pro 12.9-Inch 2021/2020 5th/4th Generation

Idk 🤷‍♂️ I always personally found the touch response to be a tad bit off whenever there’s tempered glass no matter how thin it was. Tested on Pro 10.5 and Air 4. Never had any issues on iPhone which I slap tempered glass on right away. I don’t like to tap hard when I use my devices, so maybe if you use yours differently you might not even notice though.
