I'm was thinking of a PB 12", but as soon as I get paid, I'm getting:

12" iBook w/ 100GBHD
1GB Crucial RAM (making total of 1.5GB RAM)

and when I need a desktop (I've already got a pretty large monitor/tv) I'll pick up a MacIntel Mini.

Sorted!

2. faster system bus
•1.33GHz to 1.5GHz is not big, at all. You will not notice the difference.

He/she said system bus, not clock/processor speed. The powerbook has 167Mhz over the ibook's 133Mhz. That's about 25-30% faster, which would be noticable in some tasks.

Oh! Woops!! When I made that post it was kinda early, ya kno?

My bad.

I'll change.

I've made up my mind and decided to go with the Ibook. My main reason for even considering he PB was because the vid card and now that everyone is telling me that the Ibook card is actually faster it's not comparison. I want the Ibook. The only thing I still really like about the PB is the keyboard, but when using my Ibook at home I can just hook up a keyboard anyways.

What do you mean by "travel" in the keyboard?
Can you teach me to type? :)

When you press a key, it is pressed down marginally farther than the iBook. Sounds trivial, but when you're a touch typist, this can make a big difference to your comfort.

As for teaching you to type, it's a skill that can be developed only by persistence. Good luck and, remember, it's worth it in the end!

When I took a test drive of the 12" iBook and 12" Powerbook this morning, I noticed that the Powerbook has a lot more travel in the keyboard and, as a fast touch typist, I consider this to be a definite advantage.
I agree... I do like the PB's keyboard better... but w/ an iSkin on, the iBook's KB feels better than my PB's w/ the same iSkin on it. And I know, it's 'ugly' to put an iSkin on a gorgeous PB but in a house w/ cats, I'm not risking cat hairs getting under the keyboard!

By the way, iBook G4 + iMac G5= I'm in heaven. :p I have that set up, and I love love love it, mainly because I prefer desktops but use a laptop for school and those desperate situations when it feels like there are no Macs to be found. ;)

maxterpiece, sorry to break it to you, but you could always edit your posts. Dunno why you just noticed it now...

iBook with 100gb HD and 1.5gb of RAM will be a SWEET machine, i'd love to have 100gb's of storage in my iBook........

I'd say your definatly making the right decision over the 12" Powerbook,

<snip of the list>

Now compare the 12" to the 15" PowerBook...

Pathetic really, if the 12" is separated by only 10 points at best from the iBook.

Well, at the moment, I've got a 1GHz 14" iBook with 512MB RAM and a 40GB HD, so I'm hoping I'll see a marked difference.

Plus I'm planning on getting a 60GB iPod and converting to Apple Lossless, so I'll need the 100GB HD!!
