I actually used MB 2016 8/256 for some office work. My impressions were:
1. Advantage (the only one): lightweight, compact
2. Disadvantages: short battery life,
3. small (inevitably) display
4. Some lags in using modern software especially MS Teams, Word, Outlook (we all know MS)

So after using it for a while, I moved to MBA M2, then Macbook Pro m3 and finally now MBA M4 15 inch 16/512.

My conclusion: if Apple reintroduces 12 inch with a larger display like 12.9 inch display, A18Pro CPU (close to m2 performance), 16GB of RAM and very long battery life, it can be a serious MBA competitor, not just a basic low cost machine. The original Macbook is outdated, but the new version could be a hit. We should forget the original 12 inch Macbook and look forward to the new 12 inch A18Pro model, as this is the future. Hopefully, we ll know about that just in 2 months.

My 2015 base 12" battery needed replacement. Instead, I use a power bank and it just keeps running after the battery runs out. Cheaper and safer then chance the very delicate battery replacement.

By what percentage did you increase the weight in doing that? 😉

The question is, does it work better than any modern system on it?
I recently updated my 2017 MacBook i7 to MacOS 15.7 using OCLP 2.4.0 without issue.

Installed the root patches after and everything have been operating solidly, no issues running the current Sequoia OS. I am using Safari vers 26 with this OS without issue. Only thing is there is a slight delay during boot up but once the computer is up and running I haven’t had any major issues so far. I still use this MacBook while having my morning coffee.
