this is outragous! not only did the processer didn't even raise up one megahertz, the Ram is pitiful compared to the ibook. it starts at 256 builtin + 256 in slot which compared to 12 inch ibook, which has 512 built in, is embarrasing. i am very dissipointed in the powerbook updates, and I hope new powerbooks will come very soon. luckily the powerbook 12 inch didn't die out, and apple knew that the 12 inch is a very good computer. i love apple computers, but this is a HUGE mistake that apple has made in their products. i understand the hard work that the engineers have put in to create a higher res display and longer battery life and other stuff, but the RAM is a stupid pitiful mistake.
[I think what Steelfist means is that you have 256 soldered to the motherboard + 256 additional .In the power book. As oposed to just have the 512MB soldered on the iBook. Wich I agree is kind of a rip off.
I'm really mad that they didn't drop the price of the 12" PB for such a measly update. The 15" and 17" PB had modest updates and still kept the same price.
The 12-inch Powerbook is effectively $200 cheaper now. The superdrive model is now the price of the old combo drive model.
In Aus, it's not even that. The superdrive 12" is now $100AU more than the combo model was. No upgrades though. The 15" is the same price as the combo used to be, and it got upgrades!!! That makes the 15" worth buying, but the 12" suck in value.. The only thing sucking me into a 12" pb now is the video card that's better than the ib... I might wait about a month after the intel ones come out, hear about bugs etc.. I have only saved about 13% of the money I need for my powerbook anyway..
