Hi

just a thought but does anyone think that the device that ended up being last years new, super slim Macbook could be where all the rumours about the alleged iPad Pro came from? People seeing parts and cases for the new Macbook could easily think it was to be a new macbook - especially its tiny amount of ports and no separate power supply port.

Add to that there seem to have been no hardware leaks since the Macbook was released, the only reports seem to be from Asian Supply Sources and Ming-Chi Kuo who are hardly reliable sources.

TL:DR There is no iPad Pro; all the rumours were started by people seeing the new Macbook.

At one point, yes.

But with iOS 9 - something must be happening. Isn't there code for a larger screen in it?

Besides, I would be surprised if apple stands by and let's Microsoft perfect the surface line (although in my mind, Microsoft is becoming the new apple..).

I believe they will atleast release something with a built in stylus...even just as an answer to the pen on the surface. That seems to be the minimum they need to do, to push the iPad line forward.

Er...nooo. Completely different designs, different screen size and aspect ratio, the iPad Pro is one part and the MacBook is two, so on. Looking at the leaks, they definitely do not represent a MacBook. And the two sources you mentioned are probably the most reliable sources you can get. Sorry to disappoint you.

It's a common belief. But it's silly. The iPad is not simply a device "with tiny amount of ports and no separate power supply port". The single differentiating component of the iPad is the touchscreen. Where is the touchscreen with the new Macbook?

I get what you are saying but if you go by the hardware ;ears - which are usually the most reliable ones - I could't find anything beyond a shell. No internals, no nothing. There is nothing showing a touchscreen (except i guess no connection between the bottom and top shell)
You can see how, before the release of the macbook people could have seen the shell and mistaken it for a bigger iPad.

Yes they are completely different in terms of not confirmed specs :)
All I'm saying is someone seeing a shell from the macbook before it launched - which is about the only actual leaked piece of hardware anyone has seen - you could easily jump to the conclusion it was a bigger iPad

I agree with you that adding features to make it more professional is probably likely to happen - and as many people pointed out when the iPad air 2 came out it seemed a lot more powerful with nothing to use that power. Some of that has been revealed in iOS 9.

I just don't think there will ever be a iPad bigger than the current one. Adding an optional stylus and maybe a usb-c slot makes sense but why would;t they just add them across the whole range?

and yes i think Microsoft have been doing some amazing stuff recently.

A couple of months ago I would of agreed with you, but not now with IOS 9 in beta and all the multitasking features, it feels like Apple have a bigger iPad in the works. Also a bigger keyboard and higher resolution was found in the IOS 9 code. I would say it's very likely that there will be an iPad Pro.

I'd bet a million dollars Apple makes an iPad Pro. And it will be 12.9". Then they'll make a 9.7" version. And there will be debates in these forums as to which is better. And no one will convince anyone else of anything.
