12" MacBook keys not working

I have a 12" MacBook that keys are not working at all. The star on/off button works as it powers up, however none of the keys at all work.
Has anyone come across this sort of problem before?
Any troubleshooting tips would be great.

Trackpad works fine..The caps lock light now also comes on..

Some of the keys now work..Very odd as the middle bar of letter (row starting with 'a') all work however as soon as one is pressed it also includes the bottom row of letters..This may sound very confusing, but if I press the letter 'a', it will come up on the screen as "az" likewise for 's' it comes up as 'sx' then 'd' comes up as 'dc' etc etc..

Any ideas?
