All of a sudden my 12" MacBook rose gold has black vertical lines in the screen and no picture. I tried command option P and R and it didn't help. Any advice?

Well that's certainly hardware related. There's something you can try to verify what the issue is, though.

1) Try through an external monitor. If that works fine, the issue is relating to the LCD/LCD cable.
2) If issue occurs through external monitor too, likely a Logic Board failure.

Either way, it needs to go to Apple for repair -- make yourself a booking ASAP!

It works with my TV. But it's not useful because I have the display settings for an extended monitor not mirroring so I only get the right side of the screen and can't do anything. Is it an easy fix?

Its dead... Good news is if you are in warranty they will repair it. Bad news is it is about $600 out of warranty.

If it's just the display, I think a replacement is about $300 from Apple.

Last time they replaced my display under warranty, they gave me a receipt with a breakdown of the components. The display would have been $350. That was on a 15" rMBP, so I can't imagine the 12" rMB to cost much more than that just for a screen.

But... those look like symptoms of a motherboard problem, which might actually cost $500 - $600, yeah...

Cross your fingers!

The screen is a $575 repair on the new rMB. They have to replace the entire top shell.

It must have been something else then. Here's my receipt.

It could also be that the 12" rMB is harder to fix than the 15" rMBP?
