My daughter is trying to work from home for a university during this Pandemic.

Her audio input is stuck on the audio port because something is jammed in there she can’t get out. I’m sending he a Hyper-Drive USB-C adapter. with a power pass though input port and audio port. Will this override the laptop’s audio port. Can she use settings to force the audio in/out to use the laptop’s built-in microphone and speakers, or sues the Hyperdrive adaptor with headphones. Thanks for helping a worried Dad!

Unless the port is damaged, you can probably use something to remove the bead. Anything small like a paperclip should aid in removal, depending of course on the size of the bead.

If this fails, and you need a USB-C adaptor, you can adjust the settings for input/output in Sound under System Preferences. So long as the adaptor works properly, it will appear in the list as an option.
