How tough is the side button on these? I got an otter box symmetry pop case which was difficult to install and then nearly impossible to remove. During removal the case got stuck pushing on the side button while I continued to try to pry the case off. Hoping it didn’t put too much pressure or anything on the button.

Your asking how durable components are on your phone because your using an aftermarket product that fits so tightly that installation and removal can damage it? I’d say choose a different case.. Plus there have been threads on bent iPhones/iPads due to removing Otterbox cases and the company telling customers all they can do is send them a new case.. Not cool, plenty of protective cases that don’t have this issue

Yeah I’m definitely taking it back. So far the button is working alright. And there doesn’t seem to be any damage to other parts of the phone.

I think the majority of the pressure would have been on the aluminum side and the button. Since the case would have been a straight edge I don’t think it could have pushed it any further than being flush with the side. And I’m thinking the phone shouldn’t be harmed by the amount of pressure that a case would be able to put on it lengthwise.
My first thought was oh 🤬 but thinking about it a bit more I don’t think it did any damage

As durable as the mini is, consider using a sleeve, go naked, or try an Apple case.

I switched to an otter box figura pop case. I had the symmetry pop on my SE and had no issues so I got the same for my mini but I couldn’t get wireless charging to work no matter what I did. So I got this figura. Less protective but it’s just rubber so much easier to install/remove and works with wireless charging. Buttons are a bit stiff but I can get used to that.
Also have AppleCare just in case.
