I have always thought this to myself, But never had anywhere to say it. The 14" iBook looks very weird. Since it isn't a wide-screen the handrest thingy next to the trackpad is overly long. (since it has to cover the screen as it folds down) The 12" iBook would be the only iBook i would purchase. And at the same resolution that makes the 14" look that much worse.

Well said. I have to agree with Kyle on this one. The only reason I can see for getting the 14" model is if you really need to be able to focus in on small details. 12" = More sexy 😉

Well, apparently him. I have to agree with him though, 12" defitintely looks a lot better than the 14", simply becuase of the scale side of things...IMHO of course 😀

Not to create a hassle (or an argument) But, isn't that the reason (at least half the reason) why you buy macs? They look appealing to the eye! Why wouldn't you worry about what it looks like. You spend a lot of money on it. Even IF you don't care how it looks the resolution is still the same.....so you are kinda at a loss.

No, thats not THE reason and its certainly not even A reason why i bought a mac portable. But to each his own 😀

A (girl) friend of mine said the 12" iBook looks like a "big iPod". I think she's right, and I think that's what we like about it. So that's the one I'm getting.

why no superdrive in 12 inch

if the superdrive was in 12inch there would be no reason for me to consider the 14... how much can i get an external dvd burner? would you guys recommend this?

Well, my firend, I am telling you that in terms of how much you can fit on the screen, there is no difference what-so-ever. Everything on your 15" will be the same as on the 12" iBook screen only bigger. You cannot fit anymore on your screen than someone on a 12" (or 14") iBook can.

This arguement has been put forward so many times and there is some validity to it. But, with a 14" screen you CAN fit more on - eg take Word and Safari - you view your Word doc at 75% instead of 100%, and you reduce the text size in Safari via the view menu. Admittedly the quality of what you're viewing is a little less, but not enough to worry about.

Personally, I'm glad I bought a 14" - I take it to and from work every day (I work at a college) - there has never been a time when I've thought it was too big or too heavy.

Compared to using a 12", I love my 14" that I got. Works great. If you have the money, go for the 14" witht he superdrive. Worth it for sure.

You can add a Superdrive if that is the deal breaker. I had one installed in my 12 inch ibook and it works great!
