I love those things. Even though I only followed Apple closely for the past year, I'm in love with the 12". I've always luster after I one. I want one to complement my MBP.

Great idea. I would show you a picture if I was able to. That is what my desk looks like at home:cool:.

Take the little powerbook for convience/day-to-day tasks and whenever I need the gun show and screen real estate I pull out the big boy!:D

If you can catch a deal on one, I would definately suggest it, esp. since you are a "luster."

True portability in comparison to my MBP.

That's a great price. I paid close to $1000 for my 15" G4 DLHR model about 12 months ago.

there you have it! I was going to show you pictures of a 15" MBP next to the powerbook but the 17" really make the powerbook look portable.

Man I love our little 12" mac's. :)

Shoppy, is it hard for you to get used to that massive screen when coming from your 12"? I was so used to my 12" ibook that I couldnt even comprehend getting a 17" mbp. Now, whenever I go back in forth from the powerbok and mbp, it feels like im watching tv at home and then watching tv at the movies.

Nah not really, you see I travel a lot. So I end up using all sizes of screen, from my touch to my iphone or macbook air to 17" high res. My eyes adjust quite quickly, especially when watching films or working as you get drawn in. I can not quite explain it. I prefer my air at the moment.

Air to 12"

My 12" Powerbook is the best computer I have ever owned. It is 1.5ghz w/1.25gb ram. I upgraded to the Air when it came out, and for the things I do, it did not handle them well at all - I figure that was due to the slower hd. I use Garageband, Sibelius, TapeDeck and Word and the net. I sold the Air and I'm back with my old friend and am so happy with it. The build quality on the Powerbook is definitely higher and it has been running my programs in Leopard with ease - not mention I love the keyboard and the fact that the screen tilts SO far back. Hopefully there will be a 13" MacBook Pro in the future when this guy can't work no more! Until then, long live the 12" Powerbook.

im just about to put leopard on my powerbook 12" waiting for my 250gb hdd to upgrade!

then my pb shall fly!

It is strange how I find that leopard runs better on my 12" compared to my air.

really? im thinking of putting leopard onto my 12" when i get the new hdd a few people have said that leopard wont run well?

1.33/1.25/250(coming)/Superdrive

Great deal snagging the 12" PowerBook at that price. Regardless of their age and lack of an Intel chip, the 12" PowerBook, in my eyes, is the sleekest portable computer Apple has ever made. I think it even tops the MacBook Air merely because of it's size, yet terrific performance for its time.

I have found now sluggishness on it, with the extra ram, also changing the HDD in your case should make a difference.

I am the proud owner of a powerbook 12" 867Mhz... It was £150! I'm surprised how quick this thing is!! I'm running Tiger and for writing my thesis on the move it's ideal!! So small!! Only problem is the CD drive takes up cds/dvds, spins a bit then spits em out again! Any ideas on how to fix this?

Ive had mine for almost 3 years now and it still works perfectly, sure I opt to my mum's macbook for iMovie and the iMac for movie encoding because it really is painfully slow on this but all in all I am very happy with the purchase!

What's the battery life on the one that you have? Mine's completely dead!

How large of a monitor can these babies drive? I may be able to pick one up if I look hard enough and want want to get rid of my girlfriends desktop.

Mine works fine on a 1920 x 1200 dell 24" with both the VGA and DVI cables

and Every mac states that:

The maximum resolution supported on an external display is 2048x1536 at millions of colors.

its around 5 hours (the screenie is on my mac tho!) and is 3 years old!

when you get a new one make sure you:

Charge fully then use the computer UNPLUGGED until it tells you you are out of battery.
Keep the brightness around 6 - 8 blocks (i use 6 with battery and 8 with power)
turn the volume to mute (the speakers are powered so drain even when not in use)
bluetooth OFF until you need it.
wifi on ONLY if you are using it.
Better Battery Life Checked.
make sure you have as little going on in the background as possible (check your startup options and disable any programs you dont need starting when you boot.)

works for me for the last 3 years!
