Trackpad or Magic Mouse??

I am going to buy a new iMac. But I am thinking about choosing the trackpad or the Apple Magic Mouse.
For the trackpad, I can have multi guesture in Mac OS X Lion.
But for the Magic Mouse, I can only get a little multi guesture in Lion. But mouse is better to control a desktop.:confused::confused::confused:
 
I got the trackpad, was odd at first but I'll never go back to a mouse.
 
I only use the trackpad now. Much better than a mouse, especially with gestures.

The magic mouse is only useful if you have MagicPrefs installed.
 
I use both, track pad for gesture and magic mouse for pointer control, as I found the pad lacks precision and is a pain after prolonged use.

I ordered the Trackpad with my new Imac because of all the negative comments posted on this forum about the Magic Mouse,I tried it and it was fun for awhile, then I went back to my great Logitech mouse I used on my Windows machine, guess I am just not a Trackpad kind of guy.
 
I'm the opposite

I use a Magic Mouse....just can't get on with the trackpad, Nd find I can scroll and swipe just as easily with my mouse....I guess your best bet is to visit an Apple Store and try one for yourself before you buy:)
 
I use both. Trackpad works great with Lion, although I have been using it with my iMac since SL. I use the magic mouse for precision work (Aperture).
 
I use both of them. Just casual browsing and basic stuff I use the trackpad. However when I need to use Photoshop or Illustrator I use the magic mouse and my Wacom tablet.
 
Have both and decide case by case. Simple tasks (mail, web) with trackpad and the mouse for XCode or image processing

With Lion the trackpad makes finally lots sense
 
It's a matter of personal preference and what stuff you do on the computer.

I favor the magic mouse over the trackpad; but then I do a lot of mousing around.

And do yerself a favor and get BetterTouchTool; it gives you much more power to customize the settings of just about any input device. With it you might find that you don't need the trackpad (since you can use gestures that Apple has for the pad on the mouse).

I have both, I use the mouse for photo editing, using the sliders in LR is difficult with the trackpad.

Magicprefs is not needed any longer in lion, the tracking speed for the magic mouse has been greatly improved!
 
Trackpad. Magic Mouse sucked from day one. Never got used to the ergonomics of it and stuck it in a drawer, preferring my Logitech V470. Ordered the Trackpad when I recently had my defective 2009 iMac replaced by Apple with a 2011 model. The Trackpad is awesome and now the Logitech sits in a drawer. With BetterTouchTool gestures are a breeze and simple to set up. Trackpad is definitely the way to go.
 
i typically hate trackpads but wow, the magic trackpad is fantastic, especially with Lion. my first imac came at the end of June and i bought both not knowing what to expect. i found that the magic mouse isnt ergonomic at all and trying to do any type of the limited amount of gestures just doesnt feel good at all. the only smooth part is scrolling. the trackpad however, turned out to be amazing.

since i got them, i still use them both. but i use the trackpad 75% of the time and the mouse about 25%
 
When I used to run SL I certainly would go with the mouse, just because it looks way better. But on Lion I'm not too sure, they really did a good job onto multitouch gestures, so in my opinion a trackpad would be a better choice.
 
The primary ergonomic hurdle for both seem to be a need to keep your hand arched upward to avoid feedback from contact with the palm or length of the fingers.

I thought my Magic Mouse was terribly uncomfortable (to the point of causing discomfort, even pain) for a few days, after which I adjusted and came to love her like a spouse. We are faithful to one another; I fraternize with no other.

Have others experienced similar relations with their Trackpad? I'm curious.
 
I use the trackpad mainly, because I thought the mouse wouldnt do all the gestures. However, it does many of them. Instead of 2 finger swiping between webpages, the mouse uses a singe finger swipe. 2 finger side swipes on the mouse change spaces. For other needed gestures like apps (launchpad) you can create Hot Corners. So to be honest it is a complete matter of preference. Don't let anyone say the trackpad does things the mouse can't. Just not true.

The trackpad causes me discomfort as well, because I constantly keep my hand slightly elevated over it when not actively making gestures. I'm currently experimenting with resting my hand on it with all five fingertips. This seems tinwork pretty well, but takes some practice and muscle memory.
 
Trackpad, definitely. I got the magic mouse and was severely disappointed that its only real touch-gesture was scrolling... which I can do just fine on my logitech mouse's scroll wheel, which ALSO has a 3rd button under it!

Go with the trackpad if you want any decent touch-gestures.
 
With Snow Leopard my trackpad collected dust but with Lion I use it almost exclusively. It didn't take long to get to "natural" scrolling and I find it to be pretty precise after practicing with it for some time. I still use magic mouse for when I need it, because trackpad can't replace it completely just yet.

With magic mouse I find myself "left clicking" often when I need to "right click" and it's aggravating.
 
winning combo = magic pad + regular mouse(wireless)

Magic pad is cool to use and for some it's essential(gestures) but not great for full time.
Having both magic trackpad and regular mouse is great combination.
 
Ive been wondering about this very question. I've played with the MM in the apple store a number of times, and I just dont like the feeling of it.

The trackpad feels super nice with the gestures available in Lion, but I do a lot of design work so I'm wondering how that'll work. I'm thinking maybe go for the trackpad and then have my wireless logitech mouse sitting nearby for when I need to use Photoshop.
