Hi,
I`ve been away for a long time and couldn`t have time to follow the latest jailbreak news!
I have an iphone 4 on 4.1 firmware and 02.10.04 BB. What s' the latest untethered JB and does it really worth Jailbreaking again. I`m happy with my 4.1 but I wouldn`t mind few upgrades etc.

Thanks for help.

Latest untethered jailbreak is iOS 4.3.3. However, it is not being signed, so you cannot upgrade properly. I suggest staying on iOS 4.1 if you wish to jailbreak.

Being signed has nothing to do with his ability to jailbreak. He can use pwnage tool or redsn0w to get to jailbroken 4.3.3.

And how will iTunes pass the verification step before allowing the update to 4.3.3 without backed up SSH blobs?

Sorry but you can't do it.

he can,,,i got the same problem a couple of days ago.
for some reason he can still save the shsh blobs 4.3.3.

first you need to install "tiny umbrella", this program can save the "shsh blobs 4.3.3" for your iphone 4.
The reason you do this is that itunes will let you upgrade your iphone till 4.3.3, normally itunes only let you upgrade to the latest firmware(4.3.5).

it has already been explained in this thread, check it out

and btw,,,after upgraded to 4.3.3,,,use redsn0w to jailbreak

Tiny Umbrella cannot save the SHSH blobs for iOS 4.3.3, because it is not being signed. Tiny Umbrella can only save SHSH blobs for firmwares that are signed by Apple. The only way to save SHSH blobs for iOS 4.3.3, is by using iFaith. However, he needs to install iOS 4.3.3 on his device first, which he can't do because it is not being signed....

Incorrect! you still go through Itunes Redsn0w and Pwnage cook it or prepare the software. Itunes thinks it's a official ISPW. Tiny Umbrella tricks Apple server if there are Blobs.

OP is already jailbroken though, no?

JB on 4.1. The OP wants to go to 4.3.3, and the only way to goto a unsigned firmware is to have previously saved old SHSH files. Without them, you can't get pass Apple's checks to install the firmware. Even, a custom firmware file, from pwnagetool or snowbreeze, can not bypass the check.

Right but if he's already jb, shouldn't his blobs already be saved in Cydia?

What do you mean by newer versions?

He means that SHSH blobs are saved based on your installed iOS... Did you think it saved every SHSH blob for every iOS firmware?

Anyways, in the end, the only SHSH blob he could have is iOS 4.1. Meaning that he has no access to iOS 4.3 SHSH blob...

I should get my iphone 4 sometime this coming week which most likely have the latest OS which is 4.35 i think, whats the best way to jailbreak it? with RedSn0w?

It's going to be tethered... Are you sure you cannot wait for iOS 5?

I don't think this is right. I have 4.3.4 and 4.3.5 saved in Cydia and I'm only on 4.3.3 (I didn't do anything to get them saved either - it was automatic). I also remember it saving newer blobs when I was still on older versions in the past. I think the OP should check cydia because there's a very good chance that he has newer blobs saved.

Download and run Tinyumbrella. Save the SHSH blobs from Cydia. Afterward, you'll know what blobs you have.

I already know what blobs I have saved by opening up Cydia - they're listed right at the top. Besides 4.3.4 and 4.3.5, I have several others saved and I know my phone was never on some of those versions, especially since one is a beta version. Like I said, I'm on 4.3.3 and I've never been on 4.3.4 or 4.3.5 so it definitely saves blobs newer than whatever version you're on. I think it automatically saves whatever version Apple is signing so you always have all blobs available to you.

Just because it says it right there, does not necessarily mean that its saved. Run TinyUmbrella and show us the SHSH blobs that are available for your device.

But i can jailbreak tethered with 4.3.5 then install iOS 5 why wait?

Did you not read my post? I said that the jailbreak will be tethered. If you mind it being tethered, then you should wait for iOS 5, mainly because there will be an untethered jailbreak. If you do not mind, then go ahead and jailbreak iOS 4.3.5.

Thank you everyone, great responses I read them all... So I already have 4.1 SHSH saved to cydia and I want to JB to a signed firmware as I said I`m happy with my 4.1 JB phone but don`t mind few tweaks!

So what shall I do? Do you think 4.3.3 is better than 4.1 or shall I wait for 5? the thing is people said the same thing for 4.3 they said wait until 4.3 don`t JB to 4.2 but when its jailbroken they said 4.3 is not as good as 4.1 lots of bugs tethered etc. now when 5 comes out will we have the same discussion?

Thanks again for all your responses.

Since you're not worried about bb, it depends on what you need. For example, tetherme enables the hotspot on 4.3.x.
For your other JB programs, you should see if they've got 4.3.3 compatible versions.

Just wait for iOS 5. You will get an untethered jailbreak for it....

TinyUmbrella only shows up until 4.3.2 but that's expected because I stopped saving them in TinyUmbrella since Cydia saves them automatically. What makes you think that Cydia doesn't have them anyway? I have to assume that they're saved since that's how it works in Cydia. Why wouldn't they be saved there?
