TinyUmbrella only shows up until 4.3.2 but that's expected because I stopped saving them in TinyUmbrella since Cydia saves them automatically. What makes you think that Cydia doesn't have them anyway? I have to assume that they're saved since that's how it works in Cydia. Why wouldn't they be saved there?

Cydia only request and saves a few at a time so Apple doesn't blacklist them. Thus, there is a chance some didn't get saved before Apple stop signing it and moving to the next firmware. And, that's way it's always best to run Tinyumbrella and save them yourself. If you run Tinyumbrella, request the blobs from Cydia and they don't show up, it means Cydia doesn't have them.

He means that SHSH blobs are saved based on your installed iOS... Did you think it saved every SHSH blob for every iOS firmware?

Anyways, in the end, the only SHSH blob he could have is iOS 4.1. Meaning that he has no access to iOS 4.3 SHSH blob...

WRONG, you could have a iphone4 on 4.0 and have blobs for 4.0.1, 4.0.2, 4.1 all the way through to 4.3.3, 4.3.4 and 4.3.5.

The version you have installed has nothing to do with the blobs you can download. The process is simple, if you restore/update in iTunes it checks with apples servers which version you can install. Apple returns the signature file (SHSH blob) which confirms the version. So if apple are only returning the 4.3.5 file then that is all you can install. However Tiny umbrella and Cydia both replicate this process, but they save the signature file (shsh blob), so you can point iTunes to that instead of apple at a later date when they are no longer signing that iOS version.

Therefore it is good practice to run Tiny Umbrella every time apple releases an updated version to save your SHSH blob for that version. I repeat it makes no difference what version of iOS you currently have, you can save the currently signed version regardless.

Is it easy enough to jailbreak 4.3.5? Getting my iPhone 4 today and want to jailbreak it my understanding is using redsnow? Easy enough or pain in the ass?

I'd like to jump in and ask some advice.

My blobs for 4.3.3 are saved, I'm currently on 4.3.5 and edited my host file by adding the required line so iTunes would look to Saurik's server. Option+Clicked on restore, choose 4.3.3 ipsw and it restored before giving me the 1013 error.

I tried Exit Recovery on Tiny Umbrella, Recboot, FixRecovery, nothing would kick it out of Recovery Mode so I just restored back to 4.3.5.

Thoughts?

Lots of misinformation in here! Wow ... Anyways;

Redsn0w is easy, but a tethered jailbreak is a little less user-friendly and less convenient.

You didn't select start TSS server on Tiny Umbrella while attempting restore? That's imperative in order to have the SHSH blobs checked.

Redmondpie's walkthrough only uses TinyUmbrella to exit recovery, and they say to edit the hosts file manually to make iTunes look to Saurik's server thinking it's Apples own, which I done.

The restore went fine up to the 1013 error, which nothing would kick my phone out of.

OK then Redmondpie tutorial is wrong you need to start the TSS server as mentioned this tricks Itunes into thinking it is talking too the Apple server and that 4.3.3 is still signed. with out the TSS server it will fail every time. try this tutorial http://www.jailbreakes.com/2011/07/...4-3gs-ipad-2-ipad-ipod-touch-how-to-tutorial/

Worked a treat :D

Although I had to be in Recovery Mode, not DFU mode, and had to ensure I had ticked "Update My Baseband" (it gave me 1013 error on first run without that option selected) as my iPhone 4 is a UK factory unlocked model.

Went through the entire recovery process without a hitch, no 1013, nothing.

So for future reference:

Save SHSH.
Run TSS Server.
Recovery Mode.
Ensure Update Baseband is selected.
GO!

just so you know Dwalls90 was the one that told you about the TSS server I just said it again because you weren't listening to him. Other then that glad it worked for you.

Woah, hold on one second. I was listening to him ... I simply replied telling him what I had done and where I'd gotten the instructions from. I never once refused to listen to him nor did I dismiss his information as inaccurate.

I'm not some ungrateful, selfish 16 year old poster ...

I replied to you when the downgrade worked because you provided a link to a different tutorial to Redmondpie, however Dwalls post was also greatly appreciated.

Anytime :)

I think everyone helped a bit though, I just mentioned the TSS server ;)

Point is, you have your phone functioning as jailbroken :apple:

Good to know, I tried doing this before but I used DFU Mode without baseband update and I got stuck in DFU mode. Nothing would kick it out.

I was just trying to make sure Dwalls90 got credit a curtsey to him and since you post came after his I had no way of knowing.. again glad it worked for you! glad we both helped! Redmondpie has either good tutorials or bad. Iclarified has a great rep for tutorials. the one I found I could tell would work any way enjoy the jailbreak..

Just wanted to give everyone an update, I managed to downgrade to 4.3.3 by following the above posts. I did have to use DFU mode, I got error 1013 on first try then I realized that I didn't update my baseband. After selecting to update baseband in TU everything went perfect!

Thank you all so so much!! I can't even begin to explain how much this helped me, seriously you guys are the best!!:D:D

I just went form 4.0.1 to 4.3.3. I used Tinyumbrella to save all my SHSH blobs and then turned on TSS. I then used Pwnage Tool to create a custom 4.3.3 firmware that was activated to avoid updating the baseband. I went into iTunes and directed it to the custom firmware that was already jailbroken and it worked without any error codes.

Hi All! I do not like my (new to me )current tethered JB, on 4.3.5, on my 3GS. What are my options for a downgrade & untethered JB if the blobs i have saved are 4.0-4.0.2, 4.1, 4.2.1, 4.3.4, and 4.3.5 ? I thought Cydia was saving all blobs for me, but TU tells me these are the ones i have. I wanted at least 4.2 so i could start to use the find my phone feature... thanks!

4.2.1 is your best bet, it has a few different untethered jailbreaks.
If you don't use a carrier unlock (factory unlocked phone) then you can follow the steps posted above by OP, and confirmed by myself. If you need to preserve your baseband, I can't help you but there are others who can!:)

Good luck!

Thank You! I'm going to stick with this for a while, i guess. But the first time it requires a reboot at work, or otherwise away from my Mac, - Im sure it will happen at the most inopportune time- I will downgrade for sure...

ok Guys- back with another question - new problem. Battery life is draining now that im running 4.3.5. After a night of charging, and no use, im at 90%. Looking in the settings, under usage, it shows that standby time and usage time are the same at 4 hrs and 10 min, but i haven't used the phone at all. If I turn it off and back on, and tell it to "just boot tethered right now" with Redsn0w, is that the same as a hard reset? Thank You for any help!
