Hi,

I'm running Safari 5.1 on OS 10.6.8 and I'm having an issue with cookies etc since upgrading.

Here's what I'm doing:
Safari > Preferences > Privacy
Next to "x websites stored cookies or other data", I click Details.
I can then do a search, for example "macrumors". This filtering works.
When I click "Remove All" at the bottom, it states that this option will remove all data stored by the displayed site.
However, it deletes the data from all sites, not just the ones that were displayed.

I haven't been able to find any more references to this issue online, so has anyone else run into it? Any suggestions of how to resolve it? I've deleted ~/Library/Safari (Edit: And the com.apple.Safari files in ~/Library/Preferences), but no luck there.

I'm having a problem with cookies also. I have zero options on the Preference>Privacy page, it's completely empty. When I go to do my online banking, the page says my browser is not accepting cookies. The website does work under Chrome.

This issue was driving me up the wall and I haven't been able to find any solution online, so today I did a complete erase and reinstall of OS X... and the problem STILL HAPPENS!

All I've done is installed 10.6.6 from my MBP's install DVD, installed all updates through Software Update, and changed my system language to British. That's all I did... then tested cookie removal and it blew away the whole lot again.

I don't understand how it's still happening after reinstalling the entire OS. Does anyone have any ideas at all?

I think you are misinterpreting the prompt.

Try selecting "Remove" instead of "Remove All."

I don't think I am; the message says "the 2 displayed sites" and proceeds to remove all 84...

It looks like you've missed the step about using the search box.

Whoops, sorry!

Definitely a glitch that you found.

I guess the prompt only counts the number of sites listed in the GUI despite the "Remove All" button dumping all the contents of the storage.

Why have two buttons to do this (one in previous menu)? It makes more sense the way that you want it to function.

Have you tried command clicking the items you want removed and then clicking "Remove"?

And in previous versions, it worked.

That does work but it's a matter of remembering to do it.

Since I now know that it's not just my system, I'll log a bug with Apple.
