It's not my intention to start a flame war over the rating system or anything, I just thought someone else might want this.

In adBlock go to 'Customize', manually edit filters and add:
Code:
forums.macrumors.com##SPAN[id*="post_rate_"]
No more rating counter or buttons, yay!

This isn't my method, credit to this guy ;)

Thanks for posting this. The people who don't like the system can finally hide it now (although their posts can still be voted :p), which should end the complaints.

Thanks for posting this tip. Me and the rating system have never got on.

I think the rating system is a ****ing joke but I don't get why people let it bother them so much. It's a freaking Internet forum.

Wow, thank you!
The rating system doesn't quite serve itself too well in many cases.

Thanks!

The rating system SUCKS!

It's very annoying, you offer your opinion on something and some douche bag just votes you down cause they don't agree with you.

It allows people to quickly vote you down and be done with it instead offering you an explanation of why they disagree with you.

On the other hand it also becomes a popularity contest with users offering not their honest opinion but the most popular opinion to score some votes.

The thing should be removed.

Just ignore it if you don't like it. Posts with negative vote won't be removed or anything like that, so there are no consequences. It allows people to easily agree or disagree with someone's post, without posting the usual "+1" stuff.

ratings are still there though. it only hides it to you which is essentially like burying your head in the sand.

You can't disable the whole system unless you're an admin. If the ratings annoy you, then this is a good solution as you don't have to look at them anymore.

Thanks. I don't think I'll use it though. I've not been around for awhile and was wondering what this whole vote up/down thing was about. Not a fan. I don't "like" it. I guess with a generation of new users accustomed to Facebook and other such sites, changes like this are to be expected.

Why worry about being down-voted? There's nothing inherently wrong with taking a controversial, unpopular or just new and unproven position. Nothing.

I'm sometimes more likely to read posts that are generating wild + or - swings, because it shows folks are engaged, in some manner or another.
