First off I want to say sorry if this kind of post isn't allowed. I'll delete it if it isn't.

Okay. Well my Uncle got these in Hong Kong from some street vendor for around $13 US. I assumed they were fake, but was curious and went to check if they really were. I was surprised to find that they could likely be real considering some of the facts, but I am still unconvinced.

Here's the box. I read that dead giveaways include faded printing (print is good, but the Dre image on the back isn't so clear) and a gray Monster logo. So far it looks fake, yes?

However other giveaways are that the top flap isn't indented, this one is.

And that there isn't a 2nd flap. This one has a 2nd flap.

As for the ear buds themselves, it's pretty iffy. The "b"s on the buds clearly aren't stickers and are brushed metal (from N to S), but even with this they seem cheap which points to me thinking they're fake.

Another reason why I'm unsure if they're real or not is another cheap looking piece. The "separator" as I call it looks like it's made from horribly cheap plastic and doesn't move up or down. The logos on the piece below it check out though.

The last thing is that it's said that the serial number on the jack should be clear which it seems like to me.

Can anyone with definite real Tours help me out? I've just been really curious about this.

13$, Hong Kong = fake.

At least you didn't get ripped of on EBay for full price. The fakes are often deceiveing because of how closely the packaging and the actual buds look like the the real ones. You can be sure though the ones you have are fake.

Do yourself and get a pair of Westone 3s. Last set of earbuds you'll ever need

There is no way $13 would get you real Dre Beats Tours. Especially since your uncle purchased it from a street vendor in Hong Kong.

Well he was selling them for a much higher price, but bargained him down.

Is my Beats Tour Original?

Is my Beats Tour Original or Fake?
I don't Know if it is original Because it was just given to me as a gift?
No Offense,just curious

could have saved yourself the hassle of all those pictures and forensic work by just applying a bit of common sense by just asking yourself the question, why would a street vendor in hongkong sell a pair of $100+ headphones for $13:confused:

Definitely fake, I have no doubt. That wire is nothing like a Beats product, neither is separator. The box is irrelevant because different fakes use different boxes and, by now, they've become quite good at mimicking the real thing. But those earphones are certainly not the genuine article.

Fake. Beats By Dre tour models use a straight plug, not right angle.

Real Beats DO use the right angle plug. But the wire is of a different texture and shape to the OP's.

$13 in Hong Kong may get you the real thing. Who knows for sure. In any case, for $13 why even worry.

Its not like its a big loss.

... unless you plan to resell them

I picked up the same thing from HK. The poor quality of the ear buds and wiring (and of course the sound) gives it all away :D

The answer to this seems obvious, they are fake. They only cost $13. Regardless, if they sound good who cares.
