Someone is going to be awfully disappointed when they get this. Unfortunately the I'm pretty sure the seller knows what he's doing. Should be reported.

All kidding aside, I just reported the seller.

He is really trying to trick people, he thinks he's slick but can't spell description correctly.

He is trying to trick people with this:

New: A brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item in its original packaging (where packaging is applicable). Packaging should be the same as what is found in a retail store, unless the item is handmade or was packaged by the manufacturer in non-retail packaging, such as an unprinted box or plastic bag. See the seller's listing for full details

Surely this is a case of caveat emptor? If those idiots can't read (and it's abundantly clear that it's only the box that's for sale) well, more fool them!

By the way, as far as I am aware, the wording quoted is a standard eBay disclaimer which covers all products.

I agree, the listing should be allowed to stand. It's clearly for a box only, and if some idiots don't read the listing properly, hey deserve to be parted from their cash.

The seller is doing nothing wrong IMO. You cannot protect buffoons from themselves all their lives.

I also reported it. It is very misleading, it says box, but also says thunderbolt built in. One or the other is false.

Well, you must be one of 'em then! Read the description it says "Auction Is for 27" Thunderbolt Display box Plus Shipping Box only". Couldn't be clearer than that!

Selling a box is tottaly normal. Its a nice built durable box with a handle. There are many uses for it.

Whats strange is that people are thinking that this is a display auction.

Havin said that, let the fools lose their money, they diserve it. The auction clearly says box only, if the bidder cant read the discription, or choose not to, its his fault entirely.

However, the sellers does say that thunderbolt technology is built right into the box....thats hilariuos.

The annoying thing is I actually want a box, but can't get one because of the inflated prices due to others' poor reading comprehension.

Seriously though, this is not new. I remember there was a flood of PS3 boxes when that first came out that all went for hundreds.

For those stating there is nothing wrong, are correct. There is nothing wrong with selling the box only, but the wording is misleading. He is trying to confuse people.

How is he doing that? As I said before, he clearly states that the boxes are empty. What can be misleading in that?

I emailed the seller and asked him to clarify what it is that he's selling. After re-reading the page I came to the conclusion that it's possible that English is not his native language. If not, it's possible that he's trying to say that the monitor is in its original packaging and that it has never been opened.

I'll report back when I hear from him, if I hear from him.

So this box does have thunderbolt technology built in?

"Thunderbolt technology.
Built right in.

*Learn more about Thunderbolt"

Oh come on! Get real! Don't be so naive! What you describe refers to what was originally in the box and not what's in it now!!

Do you really believe he's not trying to be deceptive? Come on!!! We know he's selling a box, but there is no doubt in my mind he's trying to fool people. That's probably why this is his 2nd listing for the same item.

The fraud intent is clear, lame disclaimer or not. "Display box" could be perceived as the monitor itself. Besides, who would bid hundreds of dollars for an empty box? Please.
