Are you kidding me?

- the 2012 13" rMBP is thicker, and it is heavier

- it has 2 hours less battery life

- it has an SSD that is 2x slower

I wish the Macrumors members would refrain from providing wrong information.

I have both the 2012 and the 2013 13" (and also a 2012 15") rMBP.

Both the 13" machines look exactly the same.

Yes it is rated for less battery life given the older processor, but the SSD isn't 2x slower. If you wanted to say it was half the speed, it's half the speed (not twice as slow—makes no sense). Anyways it's not half the speed. Maybe 70% of the speed for the same capacities.

I wish the Macrumors members would refrain from providing wrong information and criticizing people for posting the right ones based in personal experience.

I'm sure you got the measurements from Apple's website. Well they're the same height. I measured it with a caliper.

Oh no, you're right the 2013 model weight 5 grams less!!!

Anyone who takes the information you post for more than a grain of salt isn't too bright.

All you are doing is saying the information you provided was wrong, but no one should care because the 2012 vs. 2013 changes didn't matter to YOU, so all others should think as you do.

Seriously? "I have a caliper" is your argument? I am sure Apple would have stated it was thinner in 2012 if they could have.

Anyways, to the OP; all the information is online and readily available. I urge you to read for yourself instead of relying on people like the previous poster who doesn't know what he is talking about.

2013 model is thinner (specs are online)

2013 model is lighter (specs are online)

2013 model SSD is leagues faster (specs are online)

2013 model has 2 hours longer battery life (specs are online)

The same guy arguing that these specs don't matter will be the same guy stating he needs a new computer next year when all these specs improve again.

It's refurbished.

Keep in mind that the late 2013 model refurbished cheapest model is only $40 more. It does have 4GB vs. 8GB memory in the 2012 model, but you can also spend $200 more and get the 8GB/256GB late 2013 model. Those go in and out of stock very frequently. Check out refurb.me for all the info.

Well based on the accumulation of everyone's posts, I think I will return the 2012 and wait for that to become available. Thanks for the replies. Was a lot of help for a Mac newbie.
This version is not available now and I have a feeling it won't be for sometime. I'm on the email list for when it does. Will be tough to wait, but my iPad will have to do until it does.

Good choice! :)

You forgot that is has Intel HD 4000 iGPU. The newer one has Iris 5100 which would help a lot when pushing that many pixels.

Have you returned it? The only big factor in that decision for me, would have been the Intel HD 4000. That really is not enough to push all of those pixels. The Iris 5100 would do a much better job.
