Also, MuscleNerd mentioned an "upcoming redsn0w release" that will be able to save blobs+APtickets (like iFaith does), giving restore capabilities for those of us who stayed on 5.0.

I am optimistic! :)
 
Meh I'm on 5.0.1 because I just bought the 4S. If this gets released, no jailbreak for me.

I would not expect it to work on a 4S anyway. It is likely to still being based on the limera1n exploit. But one could hope I am wrong, it has happened before :)

believe me..im hoping for it...but as you say, this has nothing to do with the A5 which sucks.

on a brighter note, i can trade my 4S for any 4 now!
 
He has confirmed on twitter it will work with 5.0.1. He is not sure about 4S as he doesn't have one.

Or maybe he hasn't confirmed it. Depends on how you read it.

It depends.

Pod2G seems to have the untether component, which is iOS 5 related, not hardware related. Thus, as long as there is an A5 jailbreak (which muscle nerd hinted at weeks ago), they can still use the untether on the A5 I believe.

Yea it depends on if he meant, I "Will work on 5.0.1" as in he will work on porting to 5.0.1 or, It "Will work on 5.0.1" meaning the jailbreak will.

I lean towards the 2nd because of his earlier tweet said that with 0xcharlie's bug closed it will make his (unclosed) bug harder to exploit and I suspect he didn't complete that work in 2 hours or so.

In a tweet to @i0n1c he states "Next step do the same on iOS 5.0.1. Should be quick".

Seems it has now been done.

And i0n1c says "It seems the current untether of @pod2g does rely on @0xcharlie's code signing vulnerability. If true it will require major rework for 5.0.1"

Which is the opposite, hehe..

And then modmyi says it will work on 5.0.1

Oh well, time will tell. Have patience guys, otherwise i guess you never should have gotten a 4S in the first place :)
 
I dont see what the issue is with untethered, its not caused me any problems since iOS5 and 5.0.1 have been released.
