@pod2g boasts an untethered iOS 5.0 jailbreak on YouTube.

Good news. As long as it can replace 5.0 tethered jailbreak, it would be great.

Sucks for iPhone4S people, I can see why some of you would move to android. Stock iOS is boring.

What does another hacker have to do with pod2g or this jailbreak? Nobody said that there couldn't be multiple jailbreaks available by multiple hackers.

I say again.. Was GeoHot a fake when the iPhone Dev team was releasing jailbreaks? Was the Chr0nic DevTeam fake? was pod2g? All of them had things out at nearly the same time, yet no-one called them fake.

Let's wait and see if there are more than one jailbreak available, and enjoy having multiple options than calling everyone else fake because one person posted something.

It was for those who wanted an update from pod2g and wouldn't necessarily know that a link to a page reported to be about donations to him would actually be him blogging about his update. That and, we already had a thread about him and really didn't need another.
 
Hm, the jb community seems to be embracing @pod2g. This is very encouraging in itself, it legitimizes his progress at least. I am relieved that someone has made the breakthrough to untethered.. tired of stupid sites and blogs making false claims to rip ppl off. Now they can all ride the new guy's coattails with something meaningful.:p

Seems to be embracing? New guy? I believe pod2g discovered the infamous 24kpwn bootroom exploit (or was a big part of the team) that made apple revise the 3gs (only time they've done that mid cycle, and is why my old 3gs is untethered on ios5) and he is also the one who discovered the SHAtter exploit that got shelved for limera1n.

He might be more of a loss than comex if he went to apple, although not as high profile, his bugs have tended to be bootrom stuff that lasts long after the high profile jailbreakme.com type userland exploits get closed, and help future untethered jailbreaks by giving them a tethered foot in the door delivery mechanism.
 
I am so sick of not have a jailbreak for my 4s, which is no ones fault but my own. I should have waited and stuck with my ip4. I'll never upgrade my phone again until there is at least a tethered jailbreak for it.

Hopefully this new jailbreak is not A4 dependent and is based on a new exploit.

Ive always had my iPhones jailbroken. Currently with my 4S I am not THAT in need of jailbreak, however I would like one.
 
IMO the release will not happen until 5.1 is released by apple. i also think the JB will cover all iOS versions
 
He just posted on twitter that it's safe to update to 5.0.1

when did muscle say he had jb for a5? all i know is he had unlock for 4s.

Or save blobs + APticket from 5.0 before upgrading, using iFaith, just so you don't miss the upgrade window when 5.1 is released. That may happen before the JB is released, in particular if they hope (but they cannot know!) that it will still work on 5.1, and in particular if they hope to get it working on a 4S and don't want to burn that chance.

I'll save blobs with iFaith and then upgrade.

(iFaith is Win only, so it is a bother for us Mac users. We need to borrow a laptop/PC with iTunes installed, run iFaith and hope it works. I had to try two laptops before it would work, iFaith seems to have trouble recognizing that the phone is in DFU mode even if redsn0w or iTunes sees it just fine).

You can use Parallels aswell, virtual windows machine on a Mac.

Simple logic.

Unless he bought an already unlocked 4S (unsubsidized or straight from Apple), he had to have jailbroken his 4S to even get to try to unlock. So he has to have jailbroken his phone with something. He just hasn't revealed his 'something'.

I really hope they post the JB today now that I know it could be done! It's like xmas came early this year.... :apple:
 
christmas is in almost two weeks...it won't come out until then. Just because pod2g has accomplished it, doesn't mean its public ready. That takes a lot of time.

Just be patient and accept it as a wonderful christmas present
