Just placed the order through the Apple app (Sunday morning 10:30 AM) and got a confirmation through Apple that it will deliver next Friday. Sorry if this is redundant, just putting it out there for those still desperate for a 9/19 delivery.

Either Apple way overestimated the popularity of Gold, or just no one wants the gold.

If the apple.com site says 9/19, you will get it 9/19. It's the carrier sites that tend to push back the dates.
