I don’t think it’s about “managing” storage for professionals that work on files that are 20+ gig per file, on-the-go. You just need the space and portability, or else you’d buy a desktop with way cheaper storage options.

How many MBPro users work on 20+GB files? Very few. But yeah certainly that’s another case where you’d want larger internal storage.

I don’t have 128. I’m just saying it’s totally usable if you’re willing to manage storage.

A laptop is portable. Does not seem practical to me to have to take an external har drive with your while on the road or in the field due to an SSD that is too small for practical use.

I have a 256. I don’t use external drives (aside from backups) but I do use NAS and cloud.

Reminds me of when my wife had a 16gb iPhone. Had to constantly delete photos or apps to make room for more photos or apps. Sure I had to manage the space but it was a pain in the arse.

The type of flash drives Apple use are much different then a $200 1 tb hd
No, it’s not 2017 anymore. Good quality nvme 1tb ssd drives that are almost as fast are now hitting $132 shipped, but alas Apple either has horrible negotiator at its helm paying over 5x more for flash ram or They know we’ll pay extortion prices anyway.

128 GB is criminal going into 2019.

The 13" should come with 256 GB standard, and the 15" needs to come with 512 GB standard. Considering Apple probably won't do much with the 2019 models with a redesign likely happening in 2020, this default storage bump (and a price cut) are the least they could do.

Yeah. Like I said, I don’t use 128. But 256 is a perfect compromise (for me) between space and “sensible” pricing. I’m not constantly managing space and I’m not throwing absurd money at Apple to allow me to carry files with me all the time that I very rarely access. And at a pinch I can still access all my data from anywhere that has cellular service or wifi, albeit with an obvious performance hit.

Apple obviously doesn’t pay 5x retail for flash.
