As I've mentioned here before, I'm looking to buy a new iPad to replace my Air 1. I currently have 32gb on my air 1, and I'm wondering whether I should get 64gb or 128gb. I'm gonna take advantage of Black Friday deals, but still would like to decide cause it's silly IMO to pay $100 extra for storage I won't use. I'm currently using 21.2 GB on my iPad now. I store my iCloud Photo Library locally and after the two+ years I plan to use my iPad, I expect to accumulate around 15 GB or more of photos and video in my iPL. I don't watch movies or tv shows on my iPad, but I do store my Apple Music on my iPad, which I expect to continue to grow over time as well. So, will the 64gb be ok, or is it better to go for 128gb?
Also, if I go for the Air 2 instead of the mini 4, I might upgrade it next October if they release an air 3, whereas with the mini I know I'll have it for a good two years before Apple makes another one. So, in that case, if I go Air 2, should I just get 64gb? What are your thoughts?
Thanks in advance,

Having some time to kill yesterday - and with more-or-less that same question, I ambled down to the Best Buy near my office. I currently have a 64GB iPad 3 and 32GB Air, both running 9.2B3 - both of which I want to replace with an Air 2 or Mini 4, and a new 128GB Pro. I find myself using the Air for news and other reading, but reach for my old 3 for work stuff - it actually doesn't suck on the latest beta and the Pro for the same reasons - because of the additional storage space! All are LTE models.

I'm inclined to get either the 128GB version of either the Air 2 or Mini 4 next week or a refurb of the one I settle on. The Mini 4 screen is frickin' awesome, but I'll admit that an on-sale Air 2 at about the same price would be hard to beat when compared to the Mini. But, 128GB it is for me - I've hit that "until it isn't" ceiling one too many times...

If you tend to upgrade every time a new iPad is released, and are not planning to use all the storage from the get go, it might be wise to just stick with 64gb (still double what you have now) cause by the time you consume all the storage, you might be looking at a newer model to replace it with. On used market, an additional storage is worth close to nothing - like $10-15 extra for each storage tier vs $100 when buying new, so you definitely wont recoup your additional money if you invest it now

I've never encountered someone who wishes they didn't spring for more storage. But I've met plenty who wish they had.

Good point. I think if I'm going for the Air I'll go for 64GB, cause like I said I may get another one next year around this time so won't need the extra space; but if I get the mini I'll do 128gb cause it won't cost as much

It is a tough decision between the mini 4 and air 2; I'm hoping to get to the Apple Store soon to see them in person and make up my mind.

It won't help! I met my business partner yesterday for a lunch meeting, then we ambled to the very-nearby Apple Store to pick one or the other. We're still waffling. It might come down to he gets one and I get the other and we swap every once in a while... They're both sweet devices - I love having this kind of choice for once.

I checked them out today and I've decided on the mini 4. The size is great, and MAN IS IT LIGHT!!! The split screen multitasking is awesome, and overall it was just a very pleasant device to pick up and use. I always have the extended return policy if I end up changing my mind after getting it, but I don't see that happening. Mini is the device for me

Nifty, nice choice! I'm still enjoying my waffles, however, I'm likely going to pick a Mini 4 as well - it's what the Mini should have been two years ago. Enjoy your new iPad!!

I certainly will! Hoping to get that Best Buy $100 off deal this Thursday!
