It's time to retire my iPhone 13 Pro. If you have an iPhone 13 Pro or earlier I consider this upgrade to be worth it.
? Apple pre-orders don't start until Friday. Are you ordering through a carrier or something?
I'm going from a 12 Pro Max to a 17 Pro Max. I waited for the camera and RAM upgrades.
I have waited for better cameras, WiFi 7, Bluetooth 6, satellite support, always on display, anti-reflective coating on the display, better outdoor brightness..... The vapor chamber will improve battery health because the iPhone will be able to dissipate heat faster and in return it stays cooler and the battery will not degrade as fast as it does on older models.
I don't know how much storage to choose with these new capabilities on the pro cameras.
I always get the base Pro storage, since I have a large iCloud family account. iCloud manages Photos storage well.
Despite the fact that my Photos Library is 700 GB, my current 128 GB iPhone 12 Pro Max still has 36 GB free.
I have a 12 pro max, and actually my battery life is lower than yours at 83%. I am personally updating this year and maybe for the anniversary model.
Don’t let the naysayers hold you back, many update there phones every year. In fact who ever says there is no difference in a 5 year old phone must have rocks in there head.
I am updating my 12 pro max for these reasons.
New Design i like owning something new and noticeable different in my hands especially the orange colour.
Three 48mp cameras vs three 12mp cameras
18mp front camera vs 12mp
12gb ram vs 6gb
6.9” display with slimmer bazels vs less brighter 6.7” display
Pro motion display, but i am not sure if my eyes can tell the difference.
Action button, never liked the silence button as it collects dust
Faster charge speeds via usb c compared to lightening.
My first Wifi 7 device to take advantage of my new router.
What i do not like:
Is the dynamic island when watching movies more distracting than the notch.
AI not sure if i will ever use it.
I am happy and willing to update this time round.

No i usually sell my phones my on ebay, but seeing I have not purchased a new phone in a while, I will hang onto my 12 pro max a bit longer.
In case i do not like the orange colour or I do not like the phone but thats a big if.
So Apple lets you preload a preorder so Friday just hit buy…back last year I was going to get the 17PM from the 12PM but jumped the gun based on fake news and got the 16PM but after having it for a few months, it’s way to heavy and bulky….now I’m getting AIR and trading in 16PM and be done with it for a while.
I hear you. I have the 16 Pro, my first ever Pro model and it will probably be my last. I absolutely HATE how heavy this thing is even in a light weight case. Never again will I get heavy phone (and my Pro is a lot lighter than your Pro max lol). With getting rid of my 16 Pro I am ultimately deciding between the Air, the 17, or next years 17e.
Good luck with the Air, I can't wait to hear people opinions of it once they start using it. I think in theory it looks amazing and long overdue.
My 12 Pro Max shows 89% battery. Glad I didn't upgrade to the 16 and see no reason to get the 17. Will stick with the 12 until it won't hold a usable charge or breaks for some other reason.
Agreed, I rarely buy first production tech products anymore, so that goes to show you just how much I can’t stand the heavy brick 16PM
That's pretty good after all this time. I replaced the battery at 81% a few months ago. (Technically Apple says it needs to be below 80% but the technician said if it's a very high number of cycles and close to 80% health he'll do the battery replacement.) It's at 100% now, perfect to pass down to my kid.
