I'm thinking of buying a 12w apple adapter instead of using my 5w adapter for my iPhone 6plus.
And i would like to know if it only speeds up your charging time?

Bought the verizon 12 w charger after reading that it speeds up charging for the 6/6plus. I now own 3 different 12w chargers, and wife has one as well. They are awesome and definitely speed up charging. In my case on my 6 plus better than 1% per minute.

Has anyone verified that this doesn't have any negative long-term effects on the battery life?

It could be a 1000W charger, the phone is only going to pull as much as its designed for.

The 5W charger delivers 1amp @ 5v, the 12W delivers 2.4amp @5V

The 6+ can draw 2+ amps, whereas the earlier iPhones draw 1amp.

Apple says so. You can use any charger that fits to charge the phone including the larger chargers for the iPad. I use one iPad charger for all of my devices.

You know it only charges the 6 & 6 + faster though?

If you've got any other model of iPhone, any 'faster' charging is purely placebo, as the phones are designed to top out at 5w (sorry if you already knew that!).

The speed does not really matter to me. The one iPad charger does both iPads and my 6 and 6+. The phone I use charges over night and one a week I put whatever iPad needs charging during the day.

No need for speed:D

I've largely done away with Apple chargers and gone with these guys. They're not much more in cost than the Apple chargers, but can charge multiple devices at once, at the max amount of current each will safely take in.

Couldn't agree more. Top notch products at competitive prices. Love their multi-port IQ chargers like the one you listed, as well as this two-port travel charger with folding plug. It's like carrying two of Apple's 12W bricks in one (for less than the price of a single Apple brick). These guys are a no-brainer IMO.
