So I picked up a fully loaded MBA with 4 GB of Ram and a 2.13 GHz Processor. Why have the MBA for that price when I could of had a MacBook Pro? Well I did have a Macbook Pro and I started traveling a lot and commuting to the city daily and it became a pain in the a** to carry around!

Anyway, the MacBook Air is incredible. I run Photoshop CS5 at the same time as Lightroom and After Effects and all run really well! I mean I really doubted it, but when I opened them up and used them, it handled itself really well! Rendering out of After Effects went really well. The fans kicked on high speed, but it went at a surprisingly fast rate for a file with over 500 layers!

I doubt the MacBook Air can do as well when plugged into the ACD, but it's still a nice machine nonetheless.

I also have fully loaded 13" Air. This laptop is amazing. The screen is fantastic. The SSD and instant-on from sleep works every single time.

The weight and size is noticeably different from my 13" MBP. Having used this thing for the last couple days, I can never go back to a 4 or 5 pound laptop.

I thought the unibody MBP was a great laptop. These latest Macbook Airs are even better. I've been putting this laptop through its paces -- the screen is impressive and the specs are very good.

But it's the solid design and craftsmanship that really seals it. The overall form of the 13" is great, it's a very comfortable computer to use, with just the right amount of space to rest your hands on and use the keyboard without hitting the trackpad by accident. You can just tell they spent a lot of time configuring it just right. Ports are great, keyboard and trackpad are best-in-class. I'm jettisoning all my other mobile electronics, and will now have Android smartphone and Macbook Air - it's all you need. These decked-out 13" Airs are that good.

If you're on the fence, don't be. Pull the trigger and order. You won't be disappointed with a 13" Air. For the 11", I'd spend the time and visit a store to see if it's for you.

Sounds good, I'm on the edge on buying one. But I'm worried about fan noise. Can you hear it while doing non-intensive stuff like browsing / word processing / iTunes?

No. Absolutely not, not a sound from the machine.

Can you comment on the Audio quality/volume of the speakers compared to the current Macbook Pro 13"?? Also, when watching a Youtube video for 3-5 minutes or so or using Skype with Video call does it get pretty hot after?

    Congrats on your new MBA:)

On a laptop this thin, the sound is passable - but just passable. Compared to the Macbook Pro, the sound on the Air is subpar. In fact I think the speakers are one of the weaker components on the machine -- but they likely had to be, given how little room there is for a speaker. If you're an audiophile or portable speaker sound is important to you, you're going to be pretty disappointed with the speakers and will likely use the headphone jack (haven't tried it yet).

I feel like the air's speakers are much louder than my MBP.

I used my new 13" MBA for 4 hours last night for regular stuff (surfing, software installs) and the only time the fan came on was halfway through installing Xcode.

The bottom barely got warm the whole rime I used it.

Have you tried opening up raw files in Photoshop CS5 with camera raw? If it does this speedily I'm sold.

I find the 13" MBA's speakers are better/fuller sounding than the 13" MBP and just as loud, if not louder at full volume. They are not as good as the 15" though. Impressive for how small the two speakers are. Night and day difference/improvement over the last gen of MBA speakers.

The only time my fan is turning on is after I install something new....it will whir up for a few seconds and then stop. Otherwise, completely silent thus far.

Incidentally, some little weirdness earlier. I use FireFox and did not use Migration Assistant. I prefer to set up my new Macs "clean" and just download the Dropbox client to sync up my work and personal files.

So I used Safari to download Firefox, and then from there went to install Flash. The first time I tried to do so, Firefox gave me an error message that Flash failed to install and offered me a manual install button. I chose that, got Flash up and running without incident thereafter.

Is it just me or is Apple going a long ways towards trying to keep Flash off these new machines? It was no biggie but I can see where an absolute neophyte would just not bother if the first install didn't work (either that or go to the Genius bar).

For those of you with the 13" with the 2.13 processor, can you tell me how games run? I am interested to see how Team Fortress 2 runs on the fastest MBA.
