it’s more about paying premium price for 2016 outdated design
Yeah, and that 5 hour battery life of the Dell XPS is just awesome compared to the 10 hours of the MacBook Pro. And who needs the superior speakers or microphones of the MacBook Pro, or the faster 28W processor?

I've got a 2020 13" on order, mainly because when I do travel, the 16" is unusable on trains, planes etc. But I'm now thinking that given the price of the 13" (16GB/512GB SSD), compared to the specs of the 16", I'd be better off getting a refurb 16" and just use my 11" iPad Pro (with a Magic Keyboard) for when I need something ultralight.
Thats the way I feel about this 13inch. Its like if you want 13 you buy base and upgrade ram, its cheaper this year. If you want power you get 16inch because the price difference between higher end 13 and 16 makes sense to grab 16. The only reason to buy higher end 13 is if you need to squeeze every extra performace percentage in a 13inch form factor.

Cheaper is always good, especially with more storage and a stock 16GB model at last.

Its also always been the case that by the time you spec up a 13" like this, you are almost at base 15/16" cost. The difference this time is that the 16" really does feel like a different laptop due to the massively improved speakers & mics.

I'm this close to canceling the 13" and going for a refurb 16" and an 11" Magic Keyboard....

I still miss the monitor my old Mac Book PRO 17", aluminum frame and heavy like a stone, even thought the 16" monitor and high resolutions is great and enough for me.
Regarding the real power, I went for i9 processor and 32 Gb RAM, only because this machine is not really good for further upgrades (RAM soldered ?) and usually I keep my MBP's for some years (the 17" was bought 2010 and was OK till 2019, just going with full RAM and an SSD drive installed 3 years ago).

I was so stupid and didn't pay enough attention that with 100 € more I could have gotten a graphic card with double memory.

I think once you’ve worked on a 16” MBP you’ll never be able to go 13”. The screen is just such a beauty, the performance is incredible and the weight difference is bearable.

The 16" panel has about a 10ms worse grey to grey response time than the 13" though, unfortunately. Scrolling text is bad enough on the 13" so I didn't want to take a chance with the 16".

I guess you don't travel? (Well used to at least)
The MBP 16 is way too cumbersome in Airline economy seating and the ever worsening bag regulations.
I now have both and they both have their places.

I decided to get a 16 and use the 12.9 IPP to compliment when I need a "smaller" size. I just can't fathom spending $1800 bux for old tech right now, the 13 looks so dated.

Bought the 13” mbp.

Was considering the 16” but too expensive for old tech. Will wait for the next rev or two before I get a 16”.

the 13 is more than powerful enough for my needs for the next 2-3 years

I got the 16“ MBP, coming from a 2018 13“ MBP. The difference for me is big, especially since I am not planning to use it a lot outside. The bigger display is definitely worth it and performance is great. Another thing to consider is that battery life is much better on the 16“ model. With my usage I got max 5 hours from the 2018 13“ MBP, and now I am at about 10 hours. This alone makes the 16“ model worth it. Of course battery life will vary depending on the tasks running, but it will be better with the 16“ MacBook Pro.
