For those of you that can't (and don't want to) afford some large SSD in a MacBook - i just upgraded my 2011 MacBook Pro to two WD Scorpio Black 750GB 7200RPM Drives running in Software-RAID 0!
Unfortunately my RAM did not arrive yet so a whole xBench with 8GB will follow l8r.

    HDD Results below:

Wow, It's awesome.... compared to other brands seems that WD gave much better speed on a mac.
Seagate 7200RPM is even worse than WD Scorpio Blue from what I've read in the forum. Can you post the result again with 8GB Memory?

I have just setup my RAID-0 with Chinese Optibay. I'm using Toshiba 250GB (from apple) and WD320BEVT Scorpio Blue.... I guess the Toshiba might hold the system down.

Both are 5400 RPM and I'm getting 75 on X-Bench. I suppose that the result is much better than 7200 RPM drive and the system feels much quicker now.
But when it has to face WD Scorpio Black x2, it should feel slows.

Great result... Half SSDx1 but it's amazing with mechanical drive.

I wonder how it'll look like if someone use Momentus XT in RAID-0??

Wow... It's already half the SSD speed.

Can you post a review video for boot time and app launch on youtube? and give us the link?
It would be my dream HDD (given the size and speed when in RAID-0 mode).

But it would be overkill in my daily usage. I only use about 150GB at the moment (after deleting my videos, TV shows, and Keynotes for 300GB).

Also, when you do your raid... what block size did you choose? I chose 128KB... don't know the reason but I read a tutorial on RAID-0 for MB from some websites says 128KB will be the best.
