I really love the leather sleeve I have for my MBP. I preordered the new 12.9” iPad Pro but noticed the sleeves they had for the old 12.9 are no longer available (and i wasn’t really keen on the whole pencil holder on them anyway).

I was wondering how using the 13” MacBook sleeve as a replacement or substitute sleeve for the new iPad Pro would look. Any thoughts?

I’d like to know as well. The dimensions of the new 12.9 are roughly 8.5x11. Hopefully it’ll work.

I would say it fits pretty darn well. Perfectly like the iPad sleeve itself did? Likely not. There’s a tiny bit of wiggle room side to side, but it’s a perfect fit on the shorter dimension.

Looks like most of the old 13" sleeves will work. Last night I dug out and cleaned off my old Brenthaven sleeve and put my new Pro in it. It's a little roomy, but not bad. And beats buying something new.

This is all great news. Thanks for sharing. I wonder how/if the iPad will fit into the sleeve with the smart folio on (non-keyboard version).

I should be able to let you know that tomorrow. I actually decided to order one because I realized that there's no way to prop the thing up on planes and trains when trying to watch movies, etc.

It fits, but not great - the iPad sticks out the top a very small bit and it seems like the sleeve puckers a bit.

I also found an old Brenthaven solution. Thanks for reminding me to look via your post. It is a Collins (limited edition) bag. I checked their website. Looks like they’ve gone over to supplying product for education, not public sale. Too bad.

On that note I’d also recommend keeping a watch on TomBihn products. I e-mailed them and they are working on an iPadPro sleeve. They did recommend a larger 13” sleeve if your attaching to the Apple Pencil to your iPadPro. Found a sleeve for backpack use for a 13” and it also works great for hand carry.

True. I was surprised to discover them at a both a few years ago at the annual ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) conference. I've since purchased their cases for all our staff iPads.
